Twisted Acres
An era ends in the bronx... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3069115 Good for Joe. That'll teach them to let a good man twist in the wind like they did...
Sir Stewart
Congrats to Joe on getting out of there. He followed his nose.
cryptique
He can't help it. Though sometimes his nose arrives early and he arrives late.
caliber66
Clearly, Joe Torre nose what's best for the Yankees is not necessarily what's best for Joe Torre('s nose).
embiggen
bye Joe! don't let the door hit you in the nose on the way out!
So Long
It's gonna be weird seeing someone else lose as the Yankees manager...
Gobias Industries
Well, I won't be surprised if the Yankees start losing more now...
Beltmann
Torre led the Yankees to the postseason every year he managed them, winning the AL East 10 times. But the Yankees have gone without a Series championship in the last seven and haven't even reached it since 2003, a stretch of futility that finally prompted Steinbrenner to make a change. Here in Milwaukee, we have a different idea of what a true "stretch of futility" actually looks like. Sweet Papa Crimbo
Here in Milwaukee, we have a different idea of what a true "stretch of futility" actually looks like. Heh...I am a Rangers fan. You guys have no fucking idea what futility is.
DAngerer09
Girardi, LaRussa, or Mattingly. Take your pick.
bjorn_skurj
Girardi would be mine.
Sir Stewart
Please Mattingly
boywiththorninside
A-Rod: player/manager I could live with either Mattingly or Girardi. Girardi would probably be better, but Mattingly was my favorite player as a kid. Bobby Valentine's name is being put out there too. Probably by Bobby Valentine. Beltmann
Heh...I am a Rangers fan. You guys have no fucking idea what futility is. The Brewers have exactly 1 division title and 1 postseason appearance in their history (1982). Since 1982, the Brewers have had only 5 winning seasons, with the nadir being 106 losses in 2002. In comparison, since 1982, the Rangers have had 10 winning seasons, 4 division titles, and 3 postseason appearances. And they have never lost 106 games in a season, unless you count the 1963 Washington Senators. That's certainly an impressive record of futility, yes--I feel for ya--but, alas, no match for the Brew Crew.
tongue-tied
I'll miss his smile.

Gobias Industries
how could you see it in the shadow of his nose? I can't believe that Torre is the nose of all these jokes! Show him some respect!

Spawn's dad
In a startling turn of events Joe Torre is out as manager of the New York Yankees and emerging as the front runner to replace him is his nose.
Oil Can Boyd
I don't mean to kick a guy when he is down - because I actually like Joe Torre - but his managing record before he got to the Yankees was not so good. Granted he managed some bad teams, but in parts of 15 seasons he had one first place finish and, if I did the math right, a .470 winning percentage.
Spawn's dad
I'm not really sure he's down. The yankees are the ones who look bad in this. Aside from that how many managers have stellar records with more than one team?
Smokestack Joe
so long Joe, Milwaukee loves you. come back if you want.
