darkstar
Dead serious. That might be the best trade the Dolphins have made in years. He's a good slot reciever. But, to be honest, anyone could have gotten 100 catches in that system playing slot. The fact that he was good for them doesn't change that they gave up a 2nd and 7th rounder for him. That was a steal for the Phins. True that a lot of guys could have had 100+ receptions in the Pat's scheme but Welker is a YAC machine, the guy had over 1100 yards this year (with 8 TD's). He also adds value as a fairly decent (not spectacular) punt returner. I think it was worth a second and a seventh round pick for him...also I may be wrong but wasn't Sammy Morris a part of that deal as well? Before he got hurt he was giving the Pats some solid running. Time will tell how it all works out....maybe Miami will draft some guy that comes out of nowhere with one of their picks ( a la Brady) but I think it was a decent trade and don't feel they overpaid,,,,but thats just my opinion. As usual bobbob you provide food for thought with your analysis....whattya think about the Big Tuna runnin' football ops for the fins? Who's gonna be the next Head Coach down there? I agree after seeing Welker throughout the season, he has alot of talent and is a great player. Well worth it and important part of the offense. His stats dont say it all. a.miller
Philip Rivers is quite the douche truck.Kind of a wanker. Seriously, how about the second string holding off the Colts. That was pretty impressive.

I'm tentatively a fan of the Parcells signing. He's shown a pretty consistent pattern of not being with teams long term, so I'd hate to see him set up shop for 2 years and then head out. Either way, there's no way he leaves the team in worse shape than he gets it. I'd like to see them talk to Cowher as a head coaching possibility, but I haven't heard anything about that. I believe Morris was a FA. Just another in a line of mediocre Dolphins (Welker, Evans) who go to the Patriots and become good. My point with Welker was he is a decent slot reciever, but he is more Brandon Stokely than he is Randy Moss. Small, quick guys can get lost fairly easily when you are running the spread offense like the Pats do, so he benefitted greatly from being in that system. Anywhere else and he is a 60 catch, 700 yard guy. Also, the Phins drafted a center out of Hawaii with the Pats pick, and he started every game for them and actually played extremely well, so in my opinion, the Phins came out ahead with this one. Sweet Papa Crimbo
Oughtta be a good game. As a Giants fan, this was the most satisfying win since Super Bowl XXV. Eli's third straight game with a QB rating over 100 and turning the tables on a team that thought it was the hottest shit in the NFC. To beat Terrell Owens is priceless. Will Jessica Simpson ever be allowed to set foot in the state of Texas again? It wasn't Jess that dropped the wide open slant pattern and gave up on the flag route. And Whitten on the bench on the 4th and 11 play at the end with the ball going to a guy making his FIRST significant appearance in the year? At least the knuckleheads aren't blaming Romo this time around. And on the obnoxiousness scale, Owens ranks WAY behind Shockey.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
And by the way...no more refering the the Giants as the "New York Football Giants". It's been 50 years. Nuff sed

Parcells does have a habit of that (leaving early) He was negotiating with the Jets as he was coaching the Pats in the Superbowl back in 97..... As for Cowher you think he will be persuaded to come back next year? I was thinking he probably would do the tv gig for a year and then get back into it. I don't think he can stay away from it too long. The Tuna could have a few options later on this month, looking like perhaps Seattle may be considering a firing...Dungy may leave as well but talk is he's thinking about prison ministry instead of football...who knows
mountain bed
Dungy is gonna give it a good think but the news here is we'll know something by next Monday.
Boots
Being a Charger fan in Indiana this is a special week. I was about to buy tixs to the game but then had to put like $800 into my car less then a week before it. so that's were any ticket money went... I know will be huge underdogs again, but we at least seem to be better at that role than as favorites

So Long
HAHA that's an amazing story. I'm very pumped for the Pats/Chargers game. I'm surprised there hasn't been a lot of Seau-hype related news, seeing how that's where he was for so many years.

caliber66
Nor I. And frankly, I'm stunned as to how far the team has come under his watch.Well, my beef with Norv stems mostly from his days with the Redskins, and I'm sure ownership played a big role in his performance there. Then again, he didn't seem to have any kind of personality whatsoever, which could not have been a motivating factor for the teams he coached, either...

I've said it before that I think Turner is a very good offensive coordinator but, up until the second-half surge of the Chargers this season, I've was surprised that he kept getting Head Coaching jobs after his WAS days. H-Bomb Henry
New England has driven the ball twice on the last two posessions one ended in a fluke interception and the other a TD. Great decision by Norv to punt. Beyond that pretty gutsy performance by San Diego. I thought it would be a blowout. "Youth is overrated" - Rodney Harrison. It's just unfortunate we can't visit the same pharmacy as Rodney does.
