Wilco LP #7
The tickets on sale at Noon are public, correct? They're sold on Ticketmaster, correct? I don't need a password, correct? (If I do, is it "Winter"?)

Lammycat
I wouldnt mind Wilco having their concert tickets so the person who bought them has to use along them with guests, like airline tickets where they ID. I think they have the fans for shows like this to pull it off. Its more work but worth keeping scalpers out.The Dead used to do a mail order for their shows (like a pre-sale before they went to ticket master/box office/whatever) and that usually worked pretty well. They "simply" printed their own tickets through their own ticket agency that they created. Everyone got a fair shake as the postmark had to be on/by a certain, iirc. I don't recall ever not getting tix to shows through that system. I believe Ratdog (Bob Weir's band) and Phil Lesh & Friends still do the mail-order, as it's run by their own ticket agency. In fact, bands like SCI have done this, too. I know my point is different than yours, but I wanted to show that their can be alternatives. Then again, with wilco playing relatively small venues I'm not sure it would be financially reasonable to expect them to go this route. The bottom line is, there're only so many seats/tix and people will always get shut out in crap shoots like this. especially when the doors are open to scalpers. junkiesmile
Consider yourselves lucky if you live in or around Chicago. I just ordered my Houston tickets but they're not playing until march. It's a three hour drive but well worth it. I would love to see them at the Riv, but work, kids, life, you know.
chitaper
i think its time to just go back to putting tickets on sale at the box office only and having to buy in person.Heh, I remember one morning standing in line for Grateful Dead tickets at the Ticketbastard in Carson's downtown. We all got numbers, and then the starting number was picked "randomly" and... it was totally rigged. The first 20 people in line were homeless bums being herded by a guy in a suit while he yapped on his cell phone (in the days when few people had them). The scalpers will get them no matter what. Used to be able to get NYE tix for the Dead this way. The fans came first. I am pretty sure that the guys in the Dead office, filed away the 3x5 cards and chucked known scalpers... it was a great thing for the fans, but probably too expensive for Wilco more downhome approach.. it was funny too that it all worked by phone and mail instead of internet sales... different time
