lamradio
I see a lot of people dig Jim James.. Yes, he's pretty damn bad ass. I think mostly for the guitar riffs he writes and not just his solo's.. All though he can tear it up in that department as well.

LouieB
Recently I got into an "argument" with someone here about Mike Bloomfield and that your fairly average musician can now play like he did. Interestingly enough Bloomfield did not get a single mention here yet, for what I would say are obvious reasons. Not because he was not great in his time, but because his career was spotty at best and his playing skills eclipsed by many others in the meantime. A few more mentions.... Hounddog TaylorDoc WatsonTony RiceSteve StillsRoger McGuinnJohn FaheyCharlie ChristianJohn HartfordMike BloomfieldPete Townsend Frankly the list is sort of endless isn't it?? Lots of folks have learned to play the guitar very very well. (Far more than have learned to play the mandolin or french horn.) We can talk about the slash and burn school of Hammel on Trial and Scott H. Biram as well, which is just tad different than Mother Maybelle Carter. (Does KT Tunstall play guitar? I had no idea...then add Bonnie Raitt to the list...) LouieB
Calexico
We can talk about the slash and burn school of Hammel on Trial Now that is a good shout. He can beat some sounds out of that old guitar. He is a damn fine player as well.
