rareair
Who the hell is this Brandon Moss kid who just hit a home run to tie the game? i saw the red sox play in ft myers a couple of weeks ago and moss hit an opposite field home run very deep. he appears to have real deal power. Lammycat
Just "finished" watching the tivo-ed game. I forgot to tivo the show after the game on ESPN2 so my recording cut after Moss's 9th inning HR. Total buzz kill. Matsuzaka got rattled easily and early but it was a good sign that he was able to settle down after a few innings.Ellsbury's Crisp-like catch in the 8th was another good sign. I still expect his share of mistakes this year, though. Was that a Papelbon look alike? yeesh.
MrRain422
The season has started, so I'm thinking it's time for some predictions: AL East Champ: BostonAL Central Champ: ClevelandAL West Champ: AnaheimAL Wild Card: Detroit NL East Champ: PhiladelphiaNL Central Champ: ChicagoNL West Champ: Los AngelesNL Wild Card: Arizona ALDS: Boston over Detroit, Cleveland over AnaheimALCS: Boston over Cleveland NLDS: Philadelphia over Arizona, Los Angeles over ChicagoNLCS: Philadelphia over Los Angeles World Series: Philadelphia over Boston
Twisted Acres
you have a lot of faith in that Phillies' pitching staff! Of course that is spoken by a Mets' fan...
MrRain422
Nah, it's flawed. I just think there isn't a really dominant team in the NL, so I guessed which decent-but-flawed team would come out on top. And then guessed that they'll get lucky against a superior team in the WS. It's just guessing.
bobbob1313
I actually think the Mets are the best team in the NL, but I'll be rooting against them all year.
MrRain422
I have a hard time evaluating the Mets. Johan obviously helps a lot, but the rest of their rotation is a big fat question mark. The bullpen looks decent up front but is shallow. David Wright and Reyes but other than Beltran I really don't know about the rest of the offense -- Delgado is on the decline and no one else really excites me much.

MrRain422
No, teams can't play someone from the same division in the divisional series.
Sir Stewart
I still think it will happen.
MrRain422
Me too.
Mr. Kinsley
AL East Champ: BostonAL Central Champ: ClevelandAL West Champ: AnaheimAL Wild Card: TAMPA BAY(Detroit will turn out to be a dud.) NL East Champ: NY MetsNL Central Champ: St. LouisNL West Champ: Los Angeles*NL Wild Card: Chicago ALDS: Boston over Anaheim, Cleveland over TBALCS: Boston over Cleveland NLDS: Mets over St. Louis, Los Angeles over ChicagoNLCS: LA over Mets World Series: Boston over LA in 4*The Dodgers will either finish in first and go to the series or finish next to last, one place ahead of the Gnats. There is no middle ground for them this year. What I'd actually LIKE to see is a Yankees/Dodgers series for one last time at The Stadium before it gets the wrecking ball, with the Yanks winning... and never making the playoffs again after that! MrRain422
The Cardinals? Are you serious? I'd almost wager money that they'll be below .500 this year. Probably no better than third (behind Chicago and Milwaukee) in that division.
CommerceComet
Anybody ever use the MLB.TV video package on the Internet? I can't decide whether to try it this year. It's $120 for the season or $20 a month. I'm not sure if there is a per-game rate. The quality looks good, but I just don't know if I would use it enough. What's crazy is the blackouts. I live in Oklahoma City and blackouts apply to the Rangers, Astros, Royals and Rockies. I mean the Rockies, for crying out loud. They are 10 hours away! I'm not a fan of any of those teams, but still.
bjorn_skurj
I get the audio, which comes in handy sometimes and does not cost a ton of $.
CommerceComet
Yeah I've had the audio for years, and I'll at least get that. I was considering an upgrade. I work evenings at the paper so it's nice to have something accessible on the net since I can't turn the TV up loud.

CommerceComet
At my newspaper, we don't even have a TV.Ours are turned to news, both local and CNN. I can get it turned if there's a big game on, but no sound. I really need to go back to working days. Back to the subject at hand ... Dice-K didn't look too great this morning, at least from what I saw. Was it just nerves since he was pitching in Japan?

Was it just nerves since he was pitching in Japan?I would say (hope?) yes, it was nerves as he settled down after the 2nd/3rd inning and pitched well. He was/is huge in Japan. He was spotty in his starts last year and I think a lot of that is due to adjusting to MLB (ball is supposedly slightly bigger than in Japanese baseball, for example) and some tinkering of his schedule and mechanics by BOS pitching coaches. CommerceComet
Is Mark Prior going to do anything this year? I took a flyer on him in the last round of my draft.
Duck-Billed Catechist
He's going to be out till at least June...so no, probably not. Also, I think I saw that you drafted Ryan Braun as your 3B. From what I understand, he's going to play LF. Not sure if that affects anything.
CommerceComet
He's going to be out till at least June...so no, probably not.Dang. I was hoping sooner. I should have done more research. Also, I think I saw that you drafted Ryan Braun as your 3B. From what I understand, he's going to play LF. Not sure if that affects anything.Right now he's only eligible at 3B on Yahoo. They'll add OF eligibility after so many games (15 or 20, I think), which will give me more flexibility in my lineup.
