groweprice
I might take a poll but I'd like to hear what the consensus is. I'm sure someone will research Wilcobase for this answer but this would be more fun if they didn't. There was one song that was played at the Residency shows that Jeff said the lyrics sucked and he didn't like the song. Whatever song that was please omit from consideration. The follow up question is, why do you think the song is the least played song?

Doug C
Because John sings it. Thanks. I needed that. I am tired of grading essays.
Three dollars and 63 cents
Thanks. I needed that. I am tired of grading essays. Funny--that's what I'm half-heartedly doing, too
Doug C
I'm sayin'!! I have to get the remaining 5 finished before class in 20 minutes. Spring break is next week and our plane leaves at 7:40 PM today for London and I have NO MOTIVATION to be responsible!
mountain bed
I think you're talking about "I Thought I Held You". As far as I know without looking, the Residency shows were the first time that was played.

Spring break is next week and our plane leaves at 7:40 PM today for London and I have NO MOTIVATION to be responsible! 4 minutes per paper. That would top even my record Considering how much Jeff hates the lyrics to I Thought I Held You, I can't imagine it will get played too often, probably only in any future "play the whole catalogue" situations. There are just too many other songs the band likes and could play instead. If I remember correctly, the Residency version of Leave Me (Like You Found Me) was the only time it was ever played. I hope that one gets played again, though, because I thought it sounded great live.

cryptique
"Dash 7" got dusted off for the first time in ages. Probably not the least-played song overall, but it was certainly one of the longest in mothballs. edit: OK, so I went and looked. It got played four times over 2005-2006. Huh. mpolak21
2nd time. They played it once in a radio show in 95.Residency was the first time "Leave Me Like You Found Me" got played though. There's a chance that the first three songs on the setlist from that performance were actually the recorded versions from AM being played as a lead-in to Wilco's interview and in studio performance. Pick Up The Change and Box Full of Letters are actually listed twice, it appears that only about three people have that source, but if you're super curious I could see what I could find. --Mike
Bubs101
Before it came back into rotation i'd say too far apart was up there being the last song on the least appreciated and listened to album but I'd say something from Mermaid Avenue is definitely on top Before it came back into rotation i'd say too far apart was up there being the last song on the least appreciated and listened to album but I'd say something from Mermaid Avenue is definitely on top
zebra
My vote is for "Just A Kid".
LouisvilleGreg
The Dash 7 plays you saw were likely Tweedy solos. It is without a doubt one of the top 2 or 3 least played songs.

froggie
what about the Sesame St version of Outtasight?. it was always done as a rocker until the residency show (only cause they had to play it!)
zebra
what about the Sesame St version of Outtasight?.Sesame St. version? What is that? edit. Never mind, I figured it out, but never thought of it that way before.
jimjiminy
what about the Sesame St version of Outtasight?I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Outta Mind (Outta Sight) sounds like Sesame Street. During the intro I fully expect to here "Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away..." is a clip on YouTube of the 1970s intro. And "Leave Me (Like You Found Me)" needs to be left right where it is...on the album.
zebra
Wow, that does sound like the theme song. Thanks for bringing that up.
