Breaking news from the AP wire:

Died at home of heart failure in Jacksonsville. Age 79.

A god.

The story said heart failure, but we all know he died of Bo Diddley-itis.

RIP, Ellas.

This, combined with the recent Eugene Chadbourne thread, makes me remember the Chadbourne song "Bo Diddley is a Communist." Meant to be funny, but an awesome tribute to the man and the legend.

was just about to post this, very sad.

I can't even imagine how many songs use his signature beat.

Wow, another musician bites the dust. Sad, really sad.

Bo was of the generation who got taken by the music industry, when he was broke and sold the rights to his songs. That may be the saddest part of all. He never got to enjoy the fruits of his legacy.

In their heyday (before Cippolina left) Quicksilver's take on "Who Do You Love" was one of their best jamming tunes. Still one of the great live LPs ever ("Happy Trails").

Thanks, Bo. :worship Keep the groove goin' up there.
