kidsmoke
First thing that came to mind is a bit unconventional: The Inarritu segment from 11'09''01 - September 11. I've seen it at least 15 times, and I am always overwhelmed. EDIT: I just watched that....we all did, gathered speechless around the computer. It made me as numb and heartsick as the day it happened. It's still unimaginable.
Wendy
Reruns of Meet the Press..... No shit. I was crying (that weird laughter-mixed-with-tears kind) just watching Tim Russert on The Daily Show videos posted in his RIP thread.
Three dollars and 63 cents
I've never seen the end of Awakenings because I cry through it every time. And while I'm not usually one for chick flicks, The Prince of Tides gets me every time.
kimcatch22
Oh, and It's a Wonderful Life still gets me, even though I've seen it probably 30 times. The toast from his brother at the end, in particular.Definitely.
Gobias Industries
The only time I've ever cried was during, strangely enough, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. To explain: the scene on top of Minas Tirith, when King Elessar (:woot) and his Lady Arwen walk down that path towards the four Hobbits, and the Hobbits start to bow to their new King (obviously). But then, bam! King Elessar says "No, we bow to you" lor something akin to it, and the whole giant top of Minas Tirith all bows and etc. to the Hobbits. A scene so epic in its epic-ness that I shed tears. I'm not kidding at all.

The trilogy has several of those moments - I'm a sucker for Theoden's pre-battle/charge speech on Pelennor Field. Gandalf's death... So many tissue worthy moments - and yes, I am a nerd. Wilco Worshipper
Also, after the kid from Pay it Forward gets shanked and all those folks with the candles was kind of sad. Oh yea... we were all watching it at the restaurant one day right before the dinner rush. Somehow my co-workers knew if they looked at me they'd lose IT!!! I was bawling but no noise was heard And I do EVERY single time... Ditto on the funeral scene in Steel Magnolias.

kidsmoke
Oh, good choice, Kate! God I love that film, heartbreaking though it is. Also another vote here for the incredible "Man in the Moon". A very young Reese Witherspoon is captivating in this movie, and Sam Waterson is fantasic as her father. But definitely keep the tissues close!
tongue-tied
I refuse to watch Forrest talk to Jenny's grave ever again. Why? Because I'm a man. Also, the end of Life Aquatic when Zissou cries and Sigur Ros is playing. Can't think of more examples right now, but it doesn't take much.
benjamin
The Rookie and Field of Dreams get me every time For a second there I went.... "oh... not Rookie of the Year" The one film that really got me in my teenage years was "Where The Red Fern Grows"
kidsmoke
I don't know the movie of "Where the Red Fern Grows", but what an incredible book. Love it.
Wilco Worshipper
lost it during The Pursuit of HappynessDitto. and many of the other patrons kept glaring at me--I assume because they believed I, rather than the movie, was responsible for my wife's puffy eyes and red face. Good Old Neon
Also, the end of Life Aquatic when Zissou cries and Sigur Ros is playing. Oh, good one, that scene gets me every time as well. Though, you could insert Star
uncool2pillow
Life is BeautifulI was openly bawling at the end of this.
Guest Moses
I had no idea so many people liked Love, Actually. IMHornyO, it's maximum cheese. i would agree with your assessment, although i personally LOVED the laura linney topless scenes!
Gobias Industries
i would agree with your assessment, although i personally LOVED the laura linney topless scenes! It may be cheesy, but any movie that has "God Only Knows" as its "theme" song gets major points in my book.

I'm not kidding at all. this just created a full belly laugh outta me! not because i think you're silly for crying, but because my brother, two sisters, father (most of all him!), and myself were blubbering away at this part! the funny part was that we were all trying soooooo hard to hold it in, and the result were these hilarious sounding whimpers, at least until we all cracked and just started laughing/crying out loud. anthony
I rarely cry at movies. But I saw one recently that choked me up - am I cannot really explain it. The movie: Lars and the Real Girl. No spoliers, but the ending got to me. Just too darn sweet!
augurus
I rarely cry at movies. But I saw one recently that choked me up - am I cannot really explain it. The movie: Lars and the Real Girl. No spoliers, but the ending got to me. Just too darn sweet!I think the sweetness of that movie comes from the investment in the development of the characters over the course of the movie rather than some event at the end. I cried during that famous whispering scene in the end of Lost In Translation.I feel bad because it's kind of a cliche, but it just feels so sad.
a.miller
Sports movies make me a littly misty, too. Rudy gets me everytime. Also, Miracle really seems to get me.
Guest Moses
i got hellaciously choked up during an episode of rescue me recently - when jerry's wife with alzheimer's is sititng in bed and looks at him and tells him that she's having a moment of clarity and just wants him to know that she's always loved him. his facial expression in the scene, and just the acting on both their parts, was so genuinely sad, i couldn't hold back... alison the wilca
I can cry at nearly anything with a sentimental moment. I'll second My Dog Skip (or anything with a nice animal) and Mister Holland's Opus. I also have a soft spot for Simon Birch. I'll watch it whenever it is on and I cry each and every time. I remember bawling over this made for TV movie starring Craig T Nelson as a father whose daughter has Cystic Fibrosis. It was called Alex: The Life of a Child. Holy crap, it was sad. anthony
I also have a soft spot for Simon Birch. I'll watch it whenever it is on and I cry each and every time.Isn't that based upon the book "A Prayer for Owen Meaney"? I never saw the movie, but the book is one of the best novels of the 20th century, IMHO.
