Three dollars and 63 cents
Somebody sent me a link to this great interview with Nels published earlier this week on a Denver blog. He talks a lot about his jazz playing, especially with the Singers, but also talks a bit about Wilco in some ways I haven't seen him before (and answers the 1000th version of "So, how did you join Wilco?" ). I found this section to be especially interesting: WW: What

Guest Cousin Tupelo
Well if they need any constructive feedback, pull a few of them out for the early August dates ... puh-leeeezzeee?!?
Three dollars and 63 cents
It wouldn't shock me. I remember hearing What Light, Walken, and Impossible Germany the summer before SBS came out, as well as a gorgeous tune called Let's Fight that I'm hopeful might make it onto the next album. I liked the part of the interview where Nels talked about how Wilco is different from a lot of other bands in that everyone encourages one another's side projects. I think he's right when he says all of those projects inform whatever Wilco does next. Based on what I've heard from Nels live this summer, I'm expecting a lot of lush, intense playing from him for the next album. I'm excited.
you ever seen a ghost?
i can't wait any fucking longer. my boxers have been up the crack of my ass ever since last year, when a couple of the band members hinted that another album was coming really soon. -justin

WaronWar
Thanks for posting. Great Interview. I had heard about his new album "Coward," and I am glad it will be coming out somewhat soon. Moreover, I will love to see where Nels takes the Singers next as he explains in the interview.

jff
Thanks for the link. Nels mentions an upcoming gig with Scott Amendola Band w/ Jim Campilongo as a guest. It'd be cool to hear Nels with Jim Campilongo. I've recently discovered Jim and have been pretty knocked out.
Szabo
and my sort of aesthetic sensibilities tend to be a little bit more volcanic and dramatic rather than subtle and based on African-American improvising tradition. Only Nels can talk like that.

Mr. Kinsley
... a gorgeous tune called Let's Fight that I'm hopeful might make it onto the next album. If they have as much ammo for a new album from what Jeff has just written, then I (unfortunately) doubt it. Hell Ya! Yay! that just made my dayThe album thing or the tight pants/boxers thing?
So Long
If they have as much ammo for a new album from what Jeff has just written, then I (unfortunately) doubt it. The album thing or the tight pants/boxers thing? I'm more of a boxer-brief guy. But believe me, they're tight...tight like Wilco's new album will be...
