One Wing = Most Unknown/Underrated Song Ever

Recommended Posts

I am still not sure how I feel about Wilco song. It took me like 2 minutes to realize it was a real song to begin with and I'm not still not recovered from the shock of the whole thing :lol

If I recall correctly, it came out right after "Joe the Plumber" arrived on the political scene, so I thought it was mocking the whole _________ the ___________ trend the Republican party was using. :stunned

As far as "One Wing", it really got me excited for the newest (and ever-inevitable) Wilco reinvention. It's definitely my favorite of the new lot of songs.

I have no opinion about this song.

IMO One Wing is a step up from just about all of SBS (minus Impossible Germany perhaps).

Very reminiscent of Radiohead I'd say, especially the keyboard break just before the guitar pyrotechnics at the end. Never mind a WIP (work in progress) as Jeff called it in that lollapolooza gig, it sounds fine and finished already to me!

Its a good song but i really dont get your point.

Most Unknown/Underrated Song Ever?? Hyperbole aside is it possibly because its been played live a few times and hasnt been recorded?

Exactly. How can a song be underrated if it technically hasn't been released? When only a small percentage of the fanbase has been given a chance to react to it, how can you call it over/underrated at all?

I think One Wing rules and am starting to worry as they seem to have stopped playing it. The Lolla version is amazing and when they broke into it in Cary NC I was ready to rock again but it kinda lost a little steam as Pat's guitar screwed up and forced him back to the keys. Still a great version.

One Wing.

What's that political line about the government is like a bird it only works when both wings are healthy. If one wing gets too weak or strong it will fly in circles and eventually crash. Something like that.

I heard it's about that bird nicknamed One Wing after living with one wing and still flying around.

But I do like listening to the song now with that political line in my head. It gives the song some more depth.

Also, it's weird that this and Impossible Germany have a similar guitar solo at the end.

I always thought of Impossible Germany of a song about communication between 2 lovers, but never really cared to wonder about "Impossible Germany, Unlikely Japan." Anyone here think that this is a reference to World War II and the roles that Germany and Japan played.

Thanks,

Kristofor
