anthony
Not sure what I want to pick up next, so I'd thought I'd turn to my hipster indie music friends here on VC for suggestions and advice. I have narrowed my list to the following: 1. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit2. Bon Iver - Blood Bank3. Jenny Lewis - Acid Tongue4. Neko Case - ... (undecided which LP; any suggestions?)5. Andrew Bird - Noble Beast / Usless Creatures6. Dan Auerbach - Keep It Hid What do you guys/gals think? Where should I start? (sometimes I think there is too much good music to keep track of)

Beltmann
4. Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
mfwahl
Do you have Sonic Youth's Rather Ripped? It's not on your least but I'm so glad I've been revisiting this. Other than that, I only have 2 & 6 on your list. Blood Bank is only a few songs, so get #6 or both!

uwmryan
I think you've got a great list of albums. They're all great. I'd add Strand of Oaks - Leave In Ruin to your list: http://www.myspace.com/strandofoaks
kathyp
4. Fox Confessor Brings The Flood and Blacklisted

deepseacatfish
4. Fox Confessor Brings the FloodYes. Rather Ripped is alright, but definitely not my top recommendation of theirs.
PigSooie
#2 isn't that good, IMO. Not near as good as For Emma.

LenF
You could go to emusic.com if you are not already a member and I believe you can sign up for free trial membership where you get 30 free downloads before having to pay for a month of service. If you don't mind MP3s, you can pick up the Bon Iver and Andrew Bird there with the free downloads.
SarahC
#1 for sure.
bsr8j
Can't go wrong with #1. I agree with others recommendations for #4--Fox Confessor or Blacklisted for starters.
Killer Whales
My votes for Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
Moss
I'm with the #1 voters. Just gets better and better as you listen to it. I was a bit disappointed by #2 as well.
chanman1128
Hopefully you already have Merriweather Post Pavillion
HungryHippo
#3. i haven't heard it yet, but the 1-2 clips ive listened to seemed to impress me.
PopTodd
I'm gonna be a bastard and suggest something else altogether:or Seems like you would love either (or both), given the albums you are asking about. And, I will never stop pimping for the Brinsleys for as long as I live and as long as they are not legends, the world-over. Such a truly great band.
Winston Legthigh
I'm a big fan of #6.

cooperissup3r
#2 isn't that good, IMO. Not near as good as For Emma. considering it is a for emma castaway and some other random stuff he was working on, it really shouldn't be.
Kalle
Andrew Bird for sure, it's the best record this year so far imo. Plus the art on both the deluxe (though not as good) and original are just awesome.
LouieB
considering it is a for emma castaway and some other random stuff he was working on, it really shouldn't be.Is this the EP?? it is from the same "sessions as Emma?? Why the heck didn't it ALL get on one record then and be done with it? (Too many questions??) Not trying to highjack this thread, but really!!! As far as great records that appeal to Wilco listeners that are pretty new, don't discount Nels' Coward, which is really really good. LouieB
