Doug C
Yes. I've had it for a few months. I agree that it is his best since Palace.
Bhickman
There's still some aspects of it that could use some smoothing out, but I like that he didn't over think the process.
joshead
"Bigger Than Blue" was good. But I like this one too, kind of the polar opposite of BTB production-wise.
Bhickman
"Cajun Angel" off of that album is probably my favorite solo song of his.
HungryHippo
On a related note, has anyone downloaded Jay's most recent album? It's available for free (seriously, it's the way it's being distributed) here : http://rockproper.com/ I'm 3 tracks in (not sure what took me so long to get around to it) and it's easily his best solo work. His best post-Wilco work is still The Palace At 4 A.M., but this is damn good. i agree, i love his latest record. i've been listening to it at least every other day since its been "released." previously, i was listening to The Beloved Enemy on a regular basis. Genevra is such an amazing song...it brings me so close to tears every time i listen to it much like The Engines are Idle does off of his latest work.  a friend and i were cruising around town the other day and i put on God's Coffee. this guy's really fickle with new music, however he loved this song! dondoboy
Has anyone mentioned Sweet Relief? I don't know if it would apply, but it might be an option.Sweet Relief
joshead
Wilco is listed as a supporter on that site.
Bhickman
Sweet Relief may be an option on top of the possible show(s). I may end up having to do two shows at two great venues ... but two because their capacity is pretty small.
Bhickman
The idea of some sort of "Being There" or "Summerteeth" era Wilco reunion for this is probably a dream. A beautfiul one, but still, a dream. Getting Jeff to do it may be one, too. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, I suppose. Â As a fan of the band's I know how amazing this idea would be to the fans. I just don't want to dream too big and get myself (or others) disappointed.

remphish1
Even if Jay doesn't play with them they should do a AM, Being There, Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel show where they play stuff that Jay contributed to in his honor with the proceeds helping Jay out...
Bhickman
both points above this post are great. I guess I'm just a pessimist and don't see it happening. But you never know how strange the world can work.
pillowy star
I don't think it's gonna happen, but there will be other ways to support Jay. And who knows.............stranger things have happened indeed.

Bhickman
that's a nicer way to say... getting some of the Wilco or ex-Wilco guys involved might not be as hard as Jeff.

joshead
I would totally go to a show that had Edward Burch, Leroy Bach, Ken Coomer, etc.

Basil II
Bhickman, Please put me down to help Jay defray costs of the surgery...... and yes, "Apologize.." is the best overall effort from Jay since "Palace"  -Robert I would totally go to a show that had Edward Burch, Leroy Bach, Ken Coomer, etc.  It would sell out the Tractor here in Seattle......easily. -Robert
Preferred B
I guess this will probably mean no upcoming Wilco benefit for Jay:Â Wilco ex-member sues frontman Tweedy
Shakespeare In The Alley
I guess this will probably mean no upcoming Wilco benefit for Jay: Wilco ex-member sues frontman TweedyThat's just low, Jay. Come on. I understand that this surgery will cost a lot, but this just makes him look like even more of a total ass.
dondoboy
I guess this will probably mean no upcoming Wilco benefit for Jay:Â Wilco ex-member sues frontman TweedyWell, I take back my suggestion that he uses Sweet Relief and I hope he breaks his other fat leg.
Shakespeare In The Alley
Exactly. Who knows what would have happened from the Wilco camp, or anyone, really, regarding Jay's surgery issues, but all hopes of that are gone now. Just a real classless act, Jay Bennett.
