Moss
I'm trying to get a radio show for the Fall semester on the student radio where I have the DJ's on the station come in, play their favorite album of the decade front to back and then have a discussion about it. I think it'd be a really good show. That sounds like a great idea, I know I would listen. As far as a list for the decade? That sounds really, really hard right now. I'm loving everybody's lists so far though.

mpolak21
Yeah, I know that there's still almost half of '09 left, but it is just about time for the "Best of the Decade" lists. What are some of your (early) contenders? Some of my contenders: Joe Pisapia - Daydreams Nick Cave - Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus Webb Brothers - Maroon Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It Tom Zé - Estuando o Pagode The Format - Dog Problems Okay, I finally found Daydreams (still tracking down Maroon). I've had it on my mental "to get" list for awhile after seeing you mention it here. I'll let you know what I think. --Mike

ccn103
Some great choices. No love for "Under the Blacklight" by Rilo Kiley though? The perfect pop album in my book! Marah is no longer "cool"...but Kids in Philly was a great cd. Didn't see Josh Rouse's "Nashville" mentioned here? Phenomenal CD!!! Any love for the first Audioslave album? That has held up pretty well. I'd probably round out a list of 10 with ones already mentioned: Wilco-YHFStrokes-Is This ItRyan-HeartbreakerBeck-Sea ChangeWhite Stripes-ElephantBright Eyes-I'm Wide Awake... solace
as much as i do love Blitzen Trapper's 'Furr' and it was my fave album last year, it's too early for me to put it on my list for best of the decade, i don't think it will hold up quite as well after a few years (i rarely listen to now as is)
Littlebear
Didn't see Josh Rouse's "Nashville" mentioned here? Phenomenal CD!!! I prefer his first, Dressed Up like Nebraska, but it was released in 1998. Bright Eyes-I'm Wide Awake... Bleh.

I have been listening to FACE non stop since I bought it a few weeks ago. It's up there with the best Guided by voices stuff.

Coupla good shouts there though, good as Blacklight is, I still prefer Jenny Lewis' solo stuff, I'll give you Nashville though, can't believe I forgot it....maybe 1972 as well or is that pushing it? solace
Okay. I'll take it off my list then. haha, nah, was just saying that I have a hard time putting an album that's barely a year old on my list of favorite records of the last 10 years is all, those things usually take some time to to simmer for me. It's absolutely in the conversation. Wouldn't make a Top 10 list for me. Top 20? Perhaps. Top 50? Absolutely.

The last 2 GBV records are solid in my oinion. FaCE is one of his best albums, like top 5 best. I've been trying to get my brother to get into FaCE for a while now. He has some GBV albums but not many. He won't make the jump to his solo work. I just can't convince him of how great of an album FaCE is.
