1. First Concert, when?

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. May, 1976 is Shreveport Louisiana

2. First Concert you really wanted to go to and did?

That would be one and the same as #1

3. Favorite Band?

Well...Wilco has become my obsession and favorite in the last several years. But Springsteen still has a very special place in my heart.

4. How Many Times have you seen them?

Wilco...once (sadly). Springsteen 15 times.

5. Worst concert you attended?

Aerosmith. Tyler and Perry were so fucking high it was absolutely wretched.

6. Favorite?

7. Band you have seen the most?

Springsteen.

8. How many times?

..15 times

9. Furthest you drove for a concert? How far?

Well...I followed Springsteen from Across the South in 1978...lotsa mies in a week and a half

10. Furthest locale from home you have seen a concert?

That would be Nashville.

11. How many concerts have you seen?

Not really sure...but I've been seeing shows since I was 15 years old with a hiatus from the mid-80's to 1992.

12. most you ever paid for a concert ticket?

The tickets I bought for D-man and me to see U2 in October are the most expensive so far.

13. Least amount of people at a concert by a major labeled artist.

Not counting club dates, I have mainly attended shows in Arenas. So, when I say that the Wilco show at the Palladium in Dallas, it is not because the show was sparsely attended (far from the case), it is because I hav attended shows in large venues. But, for an arena show, the Hall and Oates show in Shreveport in 1977 was not particularly well attended...but it was a killer show.

14. Band you want to see the most who you haven't seen?

U2 (soon to be rectified).

15. Ever been backstage, on a tourbus..which?

Nah...I lead a boring life.

16. Longest show by one artist you ever saw?

I have seen some pretty epic Springsteen shows. But the Cotton Bowl show in 1985 was particularly epic.

17. Shortest show by a headliner?

Foreigner or the Motels...

1. First Concert, when?

Luciano Pavarotti - Esplanade Hatch Shell, Boston 1982: my whole family went, free show set up around filming for the ill-conceived Pavarotti vehicle Yes, Giorgio! Pavarotti was a rock star to my nine-year old sensibilities.

2. First Concert you really wanted to go to and did?

The Cure - 1986

Wanted to see Van Halen (ne Hagar) earlier that year, but the parents put the kibbosh on that. The Cure were less subversive in their eyes, apparently.

3. Favorite Band?

The Beatles

4. How Many Times have you seen them?

0 +/-

5. Worst concert you attended?

I've pretty much enjoyed every show I've ever attended, even if the act is not 'on' - it's still live music and there's something happening

6. Favorite concert you attended??

Beastie Boys, Rocky Point Park 1992

I knew more people in the crowd than any show ever, and the ticket included all day admission to the park, plus I snuck in and hung out backstage for over an hour afterward, with the Beasties and L7 and Luscious Jackson (hung out may be misleading - more like 'stood there staring')

7. Band you have seen the most?

Wilco

8. How many times?

8ish

9. Furthest you drove for a concert? How far?

Boston to Manhattan, Beastie Boys 1992 (Roseland Ballroom) Shared a joint with a homeless guy outside the gig. You can see me (Where's Waldo-esque) in a crowd shot from this show in photographer Ari Marcopoulos' book documenting that tour

10. Furthest locale from home you have seen a concert?

Well, San Diego was home for a bit, now it's not, so any show there I guess (Wilco, Dylan, Mike Watt, Jonathan Richman, Beck - oh wait, drove from San Diego to LA to see that Beck show, so there's an answer)

11. How many concerts have you seen?

Lots

12. most you ever paid for a concert ticket?

$125, Rolling Stones, Fenway Park 2005 - worth every penny

13. Least amount of people at a concert by a major labeled artist.

Beck - radio contest winners only show at Fort Apache Studio in Cambridge, MA 1998(?) - a Sunday morning, in a chapel adjacent to the studio. Front row (pew). Beck acoustic, tired and inspired. Great show.

14. Band you want to see the most who you haven't seen?

U2 - seeing them in two months. Have wanted to see them ever since my brother came home from their 1984 Worcester show.

15. Ever been backstage, on a tourbus..which?

Backstage w/the Beasties, but that's it.

16. Longest show by one artist you ever saw?

George Clinton & The P-Funk All-Stars, 1994 in Boston: 4-plus hours, danced every second. They were really in a groove. Mothership!

17. Shortest show by a headliner?

3rd Bass, 1991, Student Union Ballroom, UMass Amherst - at least they took baseball bats to cardboard cutouts of Hammer & Vanilla Ice in their 30 minute set

18. shows for which you had low expectations but were blown away?

The Waterboys - 1989 Fisherman's Blues tour. Didn't know much about them, accepted an extra ticket - one of the best shows ever.

19. Worst opening act

Fiery Furnaces, for Wilco. Blech.

Cincinnati, actually.

11. How many concerts have you seen?

It's probably reaching about 15.

12. most you ever paid for a concert ticket?

No more than 40$, but I paid for my sister's ticket when she went with me to Wilco so that added up to 80$+ with those retarded fees...

13. Least amount of people at a concert by a major labeled artist.

Major label? It'd have to be Dirty Projectors this past year, not even 200 people at the show. I think Glenn Kotche and Nels Cline had less people, but I wouldn't call their labels "major" labels.

14. Band you want to see the most who you haven't seen?

Neither :(

16. Longest show by one artist you ever saw?

Probably Wilco, I'm not sure.

17. Shortest show by a headliner?

I think the Fleet Foxes show was even shorter than the Dirty Projectors show. It's either one of those. I'm not sure if you can count this but Springsteen played for maybe 15 minutes at an Obama rally.

18. shows for which you had low expectations but were blown away?

Jens Lekman. Never heard a song by him before but damn was the show good.

19. Worst opening act

Yeah what he said! :thumbup

Yep...my family lived in Phila and was able to get a ticket......what a long day...we showed up at 4:00am (general admission ticket)....my wife (just my GF at the time) refused to use the bathroom so she did not go until around midnight...I still don't know how she did it.

When Plant said....does anyone remember laughter...I think I cried.

I have an hour or so to kill in the workday and am not getting any email...so I will entertain myself with this:

1. First Concert, when?

Metallica on the ...And Justice for All tour, summer of 1989 or was it 1988. something like that.

2. First Concert you really wanted to go to and did?

see above. concerts i really wanted to go to but didn't (prior to metallica) George Michael when I was 11, Bon Jovi when I was 12, and finally at 13 I was allowed and it was Metallica. go figure.

3. Favorite Band?

Wilco...but I do like more than just Wilco. :)

4. How Many Times have you seen them?

19

5. Worst concert you attended?

Motley Crue (they opened for Aerosmith a few years ago, it was part of what I dubbed the Headbanginheavymetal summer; a friend and i saw a "hairband" concert a month for the summer. Tommy Lee couldn't even play the piano line to "Home Sweet Home" and the film footage/girls on stage were pretty much the equivalent to watching an S&M sex show. The pyrotechnics were cool.

6. Favorite?

I used to have a list. Right now Lou Reed at Wolftrap on the Raven tour is sticking out in my mind.

7. Band you have seen the most?

it is a toss up between Wilco and Bob Dylan. I've lost track of how many times I have seen Dylan so can't really tell which band is winning.

8. How many times?

19 for each is my guess

9. Furthest you drove for a concert? How far?

I flew to Atlanta and met a friend there (she drove from Alabama) we went to a show in Atlanta, drove to Charlotte, NC the next day for a show, then to Washington, DC for a third show. She then drove home to Alabama...

10. Furthest locale from home you have seen a concert?

Chicago, IL...I took a flight that arrived in Chicago at 5pm, my mom picked me up from the airport, we met friends for a quick dinner and then arrived at the concert before 7pm. I got up the next day and flew back to Washington, DC.

11. How many concerts have you seen?

Too many to count. I was averaging 3 a month until the economic downturn

12. most you ever paid for a concert ticket?

$200 for Neil Young...I paid it once because it was Neil Young and then vowed to never do it again...it pisses me off when artists charge such obnoxious amounts of money for their concert tickets when you can go see other artists for $40. there was also the festival that was $200 and i was supposed to go with someone and had bought an additional ticket...then the person bailed and I got stuck shouldering the cost of both festival tickets. very not cool.

13. Least amount of people at a concert by a major labeled artist.

not really sure about this, so i'll just brag about a concert: I saw Bob Dylan at the 9:30club, venue capacity ~800

14. Band you want to see the most who you haven't seen?

I had a list...but right now nothing comes to mind. I would have liked to have seen the Rolling Stones 10+ years ago, but know that would be a bad idea now.

15. Ever been backstage, on a tourbus..which?

yes. backstage. interesting tourbus story: i was offered a trip to the Ministry tourbus during Lollapalooza when I was 16...in exchange for a blowjob. i declined the offer.

16. Longest show by one artist you ever saw?

3 hours + My Morning Jacket

17. Shortest show by a headliner?

1 hour: Guns N Roses on the Use Your Illusion tour. Skid Row opened for them and played for over 2 hours. There was no curfew on the venue. It took an hour and a half after Skid Row ended their set for Guns N Roses to come out. They played nothing but Use Your Illusion songs (which had been delayed on its release so no one knew the songs). The entire venue sat down for November Rain and Axl got pissed and started yelling and bitching at the crowd. They then played Civil War and half-way through the song, Axl jumped in the audience and proceeded to get in a fist fight with a security guard. Bitched some more, then ended the show. good stuff. I was 14 and felt very ripped off. at least Skid Row was great.
