Bhickman
So then who do we get in Chicago? Can't wait to find out. Or will they just do a massive 3 hour show?
Sweet Papa Crimbo
Pretty freakin awesome. Keep watching till the end. This is what keeps me alive. The discovery...the excitement of being turned on to something that allows me to rediscovert that 16 year old boy that lives inside this old man's shell. I want a second chance. thejokeexplained
And I just have to say, in response to the comment about John Doe, that everyone's entitled to their opinion of course. But John Doe is a legend, and it's insulting to say that Nels or Wilco "must owe them something" for them to have been opening that run of shows last year. And I'm not sure where you get "90s-style shitty generic rock band" but did you not get to see Nels come out and absolutely tear it up with John on the Stones' "Gimme Shelter?" And to see John and his band do the X classic "The Modern World" segueing into the Beatles' "Revolution?" Not to mention John's own great solo material like "The Golden State?" IMHO, your comments were pretty off base. I agree. But you have to remember most people that go to gigs now days offer no respect for the opening act, especially if they never heard of them; as probably most Wilco fans did not know of John Doe or even the band X before that tour. I'm sure you will find rude behavior from a large percentage of most venues when Finn opens. IMO it's your loss if you don't give a opening act at least your attention for a few songs. To classify the music of John Doe as "90s-style shitty generic rock band" leads me to think drunkonaquariums gave little focus to his music on the night he saw them. I live for those moments as well. People that say they aren't really into music.. The "I just listen to whatever is on the radio" kind of people... They must live pretty dull lives.. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to see John Doe (because of the famous Charleston cancellation), but I'm glad I got to see Bon Iver instead. I had never heard of Bon Iver until then, and now I think I'm hooked for life..
saul goode
At first I was thinking "oh great Lame Finn" , bc as much as I have tried I really can't get into his dad's work or Crowded House, but that link was pretty cool. I hope he will be just as entertaining being the opening act. SG
JessieOK
I am going to put Liam Finn name up for a posssible opener. Liam has just finished touring with Eddie Vedder and is getting ready to announce another major support. Liam has also involved with the 7 Worlds II project earlier this year I fully and wholeheartedly second this thought!!I saw him with Eliza Jane Barnes opening for EV. Together, they are amazing!! ETA...so, got ahead of myself in the excitement of the mention of Liam Finn. Once I read the whole thread and saw that he is, in fact, confirmed to open for the two shows that I'm going to- well, I screamed like a twelve year old girl at Jonas Bro's concert. I'm happy!! Dude
There's a video somewhere on Youtube of Fake Plastic Trees during one of the 7 Worlds Collide shows with Tweedy on vocals and Liam Finn on lead guitar. He goes completely bonkers during it.

calvino
Tortoise opening for the Chicago shows only. That's great. It would be nice if some members of Tortoise sits in with Wilco for a song or two (and vice versa).
bigshoulders
John Doe is one guy. Former lead singer for X. I didn't see him open, but I'm a big fan of the few songs I've heard of his. Dude's got a good voice, I think. John Doe is still with X. They are still touring, BTW.
Shakespeare In The Alley
John Doe is still with X. They are still touring, BTW.Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing X shows listed places. My mistake.
