Nobody Girl
Times New Viking is opening a string of dates, including the Atlanta date at the end of this month, which I am attending. Here's a listing of Pavement's NYC shows and the opening acts: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2010/07/who_is_opening.htmlThanks. I'm trying to figure out how long the shows are running. Basia Bulat is playing the late show at the Mercury Lounge on the 23rd, and I'm really hoping I can make it over there.
explodo
Tomorrow, some dudes I went to school with are opening. Not sure how they landed that, but good for them.
RaspberryJam
I'll see them in Boston Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it.
LouieB
Saw them last night at the Millenium Park show, really good performance. They were lively and the songs were great. (Seems like the show was undersold, but still a good crowd.) LouieB
Oil Can Boyd
I had no plans to see this tour (despite being a big Pavement fan) but a friend called me at 5:00 yesterday saying he had a free ticket for last night's show in Boston. I am really glad I went; the show was great. I don't have a setlist but it had most of what I expected. The stuff from Slanted sounded particularly good to me. I think it is partly because to my ears Malkmus is a much better guitar player than he was when they wrote those songs.
tinnitus photography
you are correct; he's a much better player. i was flattened at the re-arrangement of "Fight This Generation." fantastic show. review to follow.

tinnitus photography
i noticed that too...when he played w/ The Jicks, it was different btw, that was not David Cross, though Kannberg did mention the person by that name. not sure who it was.
jff
i noticed that too...when he played w/ The Jicks, it was different I like when bands do that. I used to have some Pearl drums back when Riot Grrrls were all the rage, and I changed the Pearl logo on the bass drum head to say Prrrl. Dorky, I know.

Dorky, I know.I remember Throwing Muses used to cover the two Ls on their Marshall amps so they said "Marsha." And yes, tinnitus, I'm looking forward to the rest of your pics because 1) they are always great and 2) I was kinda far back ...

Sandoz
The most recent Spin issue has an article about a hysterical showdown between Pavement and Arcade Fire...playing table tennis. It's freaking indie- style hilarious.
tinnitus photography
review + photos:http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/pavement-jenny-and-johnny-agganis-arena-boston-pic/ fucking great show...when Nastanovich is screaming from the edge of the stage during 'Unfair' and your arm is leaping out of its socket in a fist pump motion, you know it's a good show. Oil Can Boyd
Pavement is on the Colbert Report tonight. The "interview" with Malkmus was pretty painful but they did a nice version of Gold Soundz.
Moss
Pavement is on Fallon tonight with the winner of the "play a song with Pavement" contest. I wonder what song they are doing?
Nobody Girl
review + photos:http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/pavement-jenny-and-johnny-agganis-arena-boston-pic/ fucking great show...when Nastanovich is screaming from the edge of the stage during 'Unfair' and your arm is leaping out of its socket in a fist pump motion, you know it's a good show. Wish I had half of Nastanovich's energy. The four Central Park shows last week were probably the highlight of my year. One of my favorite bands (a band I never thought I'd see live) kicked ass in one of my favorite cities for four nights (including my birthday). For a music geek, it doesn't get much better than that.
