Trish
I've always loved the Olympics. Now I also love: - Vancouver - Canadian hospitality - Quatchi, Miga, Sumi AND Mukmuk - Stanley Park - high-density neighborhoods with mountain views - Nanaimo bars - black-market Team Canada hoodies and much, much more. I can't say enough good things about our Canadian Olympics experience. Or for that matter, about our Canadian hosts for making it happen!

IATTBYB
The U.S. National Curling Championship is coming to Kalamazoo next week. It may not have the same atmosphere as the Olympics, but I'm so there.
cryptique
The U.S. National Curling Championship is coming to Kalamazoo next week. It may not have the same atmosphere as the Olympics, but I'm so there.I might find myself there too, for the first or second day. My brother's bringing my niece to Michigan for that weekend and she has recently expressed some enthusiasm for curling. We might grab some G.A. tickets and hang out for an early draw. bleedorange
Winning one medal is a pretty great showing for any athlete. The "gold-or-bust" mentality that a lot of fans and viewers have really bothers me. Look at how Erin Pac celebrated her bronze in the bobsled. Hell, look at how excited the two U.S. women skaters were to be sitting in fifth and sixth after skating personal best programs on the grandest stage. You think Joannie Rochette is upset about being in third right now? Unless you win four gold medals, some people view it as a disappointment, and that's a shame. Good story on Joannie Rochette: Rochette golden in winning bronze
Winston Legthigh
Wholly Flock, USA up 6-0 and it's still in the 1st period.
TCP
Wholly Flock, USA up 6-0 and it's still in the 1st period.Ouch! Finland! I had a feeling Kiprusoff would have a bad game. This is the next step of the all North American final! EDIT: What's worse than Finland's performance is the playbyplay commentator spending a few minutes talking about David Backes' dogs. Ouch. TCP
YEAH!!! CANADA BEAT SLOVAKIA! AND YOU KNOW WHY?! CAUSE NEIL YOUNG WAS THERE. That's right! The two greatest Canadian's, Neil Young and Roberto Luongo, in the same building at once! CANADA VERSUS US12:00 ON SUNDAY, BOOK IT!

TCP
Can't remember the last time I've been so excited for a hockey game! Lots of story lines here. Canada has already "won" the Olympics (most gold) but if they win this game they'll set an all time record for most gold medals! Nice.Unless they have a complete mental melt down I don't see how Canada could lose this game, they're deeper in all areas. Plus, we haven't seen the best from Crosby yet. If he plays like he did for the Pens cup run last year, watch out, yanks! 30 minutes. :dancing :dancing
Smokestack Joe
parise with 24 seconds left WOOHOO!!!! going to OT, what a fantastic game!
Smokestack Joe
wow what a game. Great job Canada. Im happy for the USA team, they played amazing. Besides US, Im glad canada won instead of another team. Enjoy the party. -- Damn, is Ryan Miller so good.
TCP
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's all I can say.... What a great game. Glad to see Kesler playing so well. Great game from the entire US squad.... but even greater game from Canada. I don't think I've ever felt so tense in my life during that OT. At least people can quit criticizing Luongo for not being a winner Crosby! Oh man, too perfect. Too perfect... EDIT: Canada is going crazy!! Everyone see that footage? Vancouver, Whistler, Toronto, everywhere!
stagerug
What a game!! I'm sad we (USA) lost, but considering how well we played against Canada (and the only team to beat them) we have nothing to be ashamed of. This is a game that Canada HAD to win... and they did, but what a ride! I am a little upset that Toews wasn't a little closer to the end of the medal line. He was the best player on the team for the tourney. I know Crosby is the national treasure, but Toews was better hands down.
TCP
They arranged my numbers, didn't they? So Luongo (1) was first and Crosby (82) last. Toews was right in the middle.Toews was really, really good. I think the players I was most impressed with in the entire tournament were Toews, Kesler, Backes, Niedermayer, and Demitra. Of course, Miller and "Luongold" were really good too Hope you all enjoyed the Winter Olympics, in my province. BC is a beautiful place, but remember there's more than just Vancouver! Smokestack Joe
I agree with you Cowboy Poet. I couldnt get over how tough Kesler played. I dont get to see the Canucks play alot but damn he impressed me a lot too. Team Canada was just a beast as a whole. So many talented players. Very well assembled team. But Team USA isnt too far behind. If they had more snipers/goal scorers, they'd be even better. I just like how they fore-checked and how they played physical. They really gave Team Canada a tough battle. Ok, back to the NHL!!
TCP
Man I really like cheering for players like Iginla, Nash, Crosby, and all those Ducks and Hawks. It's going to be tough going back to hating them! At least I can like Kesler, Salo, Demitra, Ehrhoff, the Sedins, etc again. But yes, trade deadline is a few days away. Here's hoping for David Backes finding his way to the Canucks. Canada! 14 medals!!!!

Winston Legthigh
Great game and congrats to Canada. Proud of the USA youngsters for making it as far as they did. There aren't too many guys on the US team who would have made the Canada roster (if any!).
