KevinG
entire album streaming: http://hotsaucecommittee.com/ Track 4 Too Many Rappers (new reactionaries version) featuring Nas is bangin', as the kids say. note from management: Good people, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, the "clean" version of our new album, The Hot Sauce Committee pt 2 has leaked. So as a hostile and retaliatory measure with great hubris we are making the full explicit aka filthy dirty nasty version available for streaming on our site. We hope this brings much happiness, hugs, and harmony. Enjoy Kikoos for life! Thank you, The Management You know I was not too impressed. It is never a good sign for an album when the first single (and best song) is the first track on the album.
jff
You know I was not too impressed. It is never a good sign for an album when the first single (and best song) is the first track on the album. I haven't paid attention to the track listing, but that seems a little odd. Have Beastie Boys done that before? It seems like the songs that become their "hit" from their albums is usually several songs in, whether it be "So Whatcha Want", "Sabotage", "Fight for Your Right", etc.
Sir Stewart
"Ch-Check It Out" was the first single/leadoff track, and "Shake Your Rump" was a double A-side with "Hey Ladies". I've really warmed up to this album in the past week. It's great. Chicago peoples:Chicago: Hot Sauce Committee CD Release Party (Unofficial)What would Cinco De Mayo be without Hot Sauce? bleedorange
I'm going to have to give it another listen later. I was a little disappointed, but I don't think I was in the mood for it this afternoon.
Shakespeare In The Alley
This album's good. What the hell, some rankings, because I revisited the entire discography the past week or so while I waited on my copy of Hot Sauce. Lots of fond memories, and they've held up. Except LTI. The absolute classics:Paul's BoutiqueCheck Your HeadIll Communication The very good:To The Five BoroughsHello Nasty The once good but poorly aged debut:Licensed To Ill Really enjoyable but obviously not to be ranked with the others:The Mix Up
Moss
The Onion has a list of "13 Beastie Boys references explained". Brass Monkey: Depending on who you're talking to, it's either a 40-ounce bottle of malt liquor, consumed to the top of the label and then re-filled with orange juice, or simply a cocktail made with rum, vodka, and orange juice. Either way, "double R foots the bill most definitely" - that'd be Rick Rubin. I have learned.
Shakespeare In The Alley
Blows my mind every time I see a list, no matter how long, of Beastie Boys lyrical references and where they come from. Those guys really know their stuff.

Boss_Tweedy
Reviving this topic because of the 30th anniversary of their excellent album Check Your Head. Here's a nice discussion. Although it's referred to as a flop commercially, I love Paul's Boutique, too. Maybe even more so. https://www.npr.org/2022/04/25/1094725602/why-beastie-boys-check-your-head-album-still-matters
