remphish1
Great show! Really had a good time at the show but getting there was half the battle. The address I had for the festival left me on a closed rd where there where no signs on how to get to the festival. Once I found a sign which was few and far between I was sort of on my way. The festival I thought was too chaotic betwen taking school busses and the 10 different passes they were selling and different coded wrist bands! The crowd was about 90% hippies and a smatering of Wilco fans... Here is what I remember Jeff played and it is not in order Sunken TresureRemember the Mountain BedSomeday, Some MorningI am Trying to Break Your HeartJesus EtcI'm the Man Who Loves YouLost LoveWait Up New MadridShot in the ArmVia ChicagoIn the Future AgeNot for the SeasonHummingbirdMuzzle of BeesPlease be Patient With MeI'll FightToo Much WineYou are Not Alone Jeff also told a story how last night he was playing with his nephew and eatting Peperoni Pizza where his nephew proceeded to puke all over his beard. He later this mornign found pieces of peperoni in his beard.... He also stated he liked that it was a folk festival because he can sing quite and not play rock songs...the crowd then asked him to rock it! Here is a picture I took at the show.... Ned Zeppelin
Agree with Namaste's set list, that's what I've got. Saw several folks who attended July's Letters4Santa show there - Sara, Craig, Heather and Sound God Warren. Sultry late summer afternoon, and Jeff gave a good show. Something for everyone, be it Handsome Family cover to Golden Smog beauty to greatest hits from YHF. Wonder what the 12 string (unplayed) would have been for. Given the crowd, which was not really a "Wilco" crowd, I wondered why he decided to play there. Glad he did, just wondering.
Nobody Girl
The festival I thought was too chaotic betwen taking school busses and the 10 different passes they were selling and different coded wrist bands! They really do need to be better organized. When I purchased my ticket a month or so ago, I was told that I couldn't buy a reserved-seating ticket to go with my day ticket. Saturday, the festival worker at the entrance to the reserved-seating section told me I needed the special wristband in addition to my day pass to get in. So I went back to the ticket area and told them I needed a reserved-seating ticket to go with my day pass, and they sold it to me. But when I went to exchange my ticket for a wristband, I was told that I didn't need another wristband. Then I had to get a refund, which too for-freaking-ever. But enough complaining. Jeff was awesome, as usual. I really wish he could have played longer.
curl
We spent more time in the car driving up from the jersey shore than we did at the folk fest but during the first few notes of mountain bed it became worth every second of it the rest of the set did not dissapoint one of the highlights of the many times I have seen that dude play music great stuff
barbkm
I purchased a Friend of the Festival pass which was so worth the price --spent most of the day under a tent with fans, two free sandwiches and water, soda and juice. Best part -- access to the nicer port a johns. BTW -- met Jeff by port a johns waiting for Jason - snapped a nice picture. The best best part was that I got seating on stage, so did not have to staked out seats earlier in the day. Festivals are not really my thing, so this was the way to go. Lots of hippies and lost of men in skirts. They probably called them "Kilts" but there were no bagpipes and this ain't Scotland -- yeah, I'm pretty square. Also -- anyone in the crowd with Jeff after the show? It was a little tense, and this one lady from the festival yelled at me -- it was quite the verbal spanking. I was just stadning there getting squashed. The Jeff -- who was pretty calm and funny -- said, "That's alright. I drive them wild." Could not get any photos fronm the stage, but here's the picture Jason took of Jeff and me. Sigh -- puts me in a good mood as I head back to work tomorrow after my Wilco fests. (Jeff also took a picture of Jason and me -- but it did not turn out.)
Broken Foot
Went to the fest with my wife and three children. Wife and I had camped at the fest 4-5 times going back twenty years. Really special to see Tweedy there as he is one of our favorites. Mountain Bed was very moving for my wife and I and everyone in the family enjoyed the set. Memorable interaction between my youngest son, Brain (5) and Jeff after So Much Wine. Jeff talking about the dunk tank at Solid Sound and Brian yells out of nowhere..."You broke your foot". We are in the front row and Jeff says, "what did you say?" Brian is shocked that Tweedy is talking to him and won't repeat himself, so I say it for him. Jeff says "I broke my foot? No wonder he is embarassed." Everyone laughs and at this point Brian begins to cry thinking that everyone is laughing at him. Jeff trys to console after Hummingbird and tells him something like, "it's OK little boy you're at a Folk Festival having a good time with your family and everyoneone here loves you, life is good" Crowd goes crazy particularly those around us. He even offers to play a song for Brain and closes the set with Shot in the Arm as per Brain's request. Wound up getting to meet Jeff after the show and as my oldest son and daugher approch him Jeff says to them "is your brother OK?" He apologizes to me, very gracious, and I assure him that all is well. We laugh a bit, get some autographs and pictures, and I thank him for all of the music. Would love to get a copy of the recording, anyone?

Would love to get a copy of the recording, anyone? I was there as well and that was such a touching moment - he was so genuinely sorry that he had upset your son. Jeff also seemed to be in very good spirits - I've never seen him smile that much during the songs. It was also a funny moment when those of us who were at solid sound realized he flubbed "Muzzle of Bees" again and called him on it. Speaking of bees, when people began shouting requests, he feigned being offended, saying that it meant that we didn't like the setlist to that point. He said "c'mon, I'm risking my life up here," explaining that there was a "very aggressive bee" flying around him as he played. Overall, I thought it was an incredible performance as usual. This was my first time hearing "Wait Up" live, so that was an amazing treat, as was hearing "So Much Wine" - even if I just heard it last week. As for the festival itself, I, too had incredible difficulty figuring out the ticketing system. There were $8 tickets that were described on the order page as both "general admission" and "reserved" (for the same ticket), $80 tickets, combo tickets.... I couldn't make any sense of it. All I knew was that Jeff was playing on Saturday so I bought a Saturday Combo ticket figuring it would cover it. Oddly, when I printed out the ticket yesterday, it said: Philadelphia Folk FestivalOpening NightSunday, August 22, 2010 First, opening night was Friday, the 20th. Second, I didn't buy (or want) a ticket for Sunday. There was some small text on the stub that said "Sat-Combo" and, sure enough, it all worked out, but it was all so confusing. Had I known about the "friend of the festival" tickets, I would have bought one because I was hoping to get a photo signed that I took back in April and was carrying it around the festival protecting it with my life after the near-catastrophe with Nels' autograph from sold sound. Oh well, maybe next time. Here's the shot: Although it was not your typical Wilco crowd and many were not familiar with the songs, I was incredibly appreciative that they remained respectfully quiet during his set. I did have to suppress the urge to participate in the appropriate moments because very few people around me were "in the know." All told, I had a great time and I'm glad I stalked Jeff from North Adams to Schwenksville, even though it took me 25 minutes to locate my keys when I got back to my car in the middle of a dark field at 1:00 AM and it took me about 7 hours to get home today (instead of 3) thanks to the buckets of rain and the shore traffic! I would love to stay up and process my photos, but tomorrow is another day. Here's a test shot for now....
