smells like flowers
The older I get, the less I enjoy Christmas... except for the music! (And mom's bourbon eggnog.) Last year I couldn't rest until I had Lou Rawls' version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Here are some more of my favorites: Feliz Navidad - Jose FelicianoChristmas Wrapping - the Waitresses'Zat You, Santa Claus? - Louis Armstrong2,000 Miles - Pretenders What songs get you in the holiday spirit? remphish1
Santa's Beard-They Might Be GiantsNo Christmas While I am Talking-Walkmen These are the only Christmas related songs I can stand now. Reason being my office is playing non-stop christmas music from Nov 15-Dec31st with the same 20 or so songs repeating. Crazy thing is I don't work in retail I work in an office building so there is no excuse! Someone save me! Sorry to not have the spirit for holiday music!

Moss
I believe the David Bowie/Bing Crosby version of "Little Drummer boy" to be the definitive version.
IATTBYB
For serious Christmas music, nothing beats the Vince Guaraldi Trio's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - great childhood memories. For kistchy Christmas music, nothing beats http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8qE6WQmNus

choo-choo-charlie
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly How dare they violate the sanctity of this version! I wonder whose idea it was to mix Bing and Bowie in the first place.
choo-choo-charlie
...oh - and my absolute favorite set of Christmas music is by Vince Guaraldi. For new jazz takes on Christmas tunes, I highly, highly recommend Matt Wilson's Christmas Tree-O. I won't link to it, but Palmetto records does stream most everything in their catalog from their site, hint-hint.

Analogman
This may be a new favorite: David Bowie (Will Ferrell) visits Bing Crosby (John C. Reilly) during the holidays to sing a duet of two Christmas classics, Peace on Earth & The Little Drummer Boy.
gogo
There were two of these going, so this is the merged version. And I could listen to a whole CD of just different versions of Silver Bells (cheesy, I know!) and Baby It's Cold Outside.

I have the R.E.M. fanclub single from 1993. Silver Bells is on the A-side.
gogo
That's why this one gets to have the title, too. It's always based on the earliest post. Also: I don't think I've heard REM's Silver Bells!
