Mr. Heartbreak
That was a slow burn speech if I've ever heard one. Started out workmanlike, and then just built and built. The zingers provided some much needed comic relief."You don’t call Russia our number one enemy — not Al-Qaeda, Russia — unless you’re still stuck in a Cold War time warp.""You might not be ready for diplomacy with Beijing if you can't visit the Olympics without insulting our closest ally." KevinG
This cracks me up!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EZQvSCGaJI&feature=youtube_gdata_player Jesus fucking Christ. You proud that the GOP's campaign is built on a complete and utter lie? I am so sick of that meme. It is so stupid, and every time I hear a conservative repeating that tired line, it make realize how stupid they are. Yes I know this the "respector" edition or whatever, but you repeat this lie you are an idiot. And glad your video shows that you are petulant little girl who throws a tantrum when you don't get your way? This just shows the differences between the RNC and DNC. The RNC was filled with generalizations and platitudes and if a speaker at the RNC stated a "fact" it has been proven to be a lie. The DNC speeches where substantive and truthful. The issues in front of our country are vast and nuanced, today PBO and VPJB came out with measured substantive speeches explaining their plan and goals for the next four years. Hey you may not like it, it may not be what you want, but at least it was something substantial. It is more then RR offered last week.
sonicshoulder
This cracks me up!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EZQvSCGaJI&feature=youtube_gdata_player Ah the old "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" republicans. So true. I can't think of a republican president or nominee in the past 20 yers who hasn't followed that model. Bush, draft dodging son of president. McCain, son of a 4 star admiral. Romney, another draft dodger and son of a CEO/governor. These are all people who have paved their own way. They didn't ask anybody for anything....oh wait they didn't have to. LouieB
Both paries support the Federal Reserve and have no intention of shutting it down?? I am shocked and appalled!!!! They don't want to shut down the IRS??? Actually none of those forty points shocks me in the least. This is the federal fucking government!!! Of course they want all those things. None of this is either shocking or or new. Feel free to vote for none of the above this November. There ARE differences between the two parties, but both of them wanting to regulate something and keeping the federal government isn't in either agenda ultimately. Time to join CPUSA or a mililtia. Sparky speaks
The Federal Reserve is as federal as Federal Express. It is a private banking cartel that is answerable to no one. And that is the fault of both political parties who have failed to exercise their constitutional duties of over-site as well as surrendering their power to run our monetary system. Long live the IRS. Stealing the fruits of American labor through direct taxation, which is prohibited under the Constitution, for the last 100 years. Look, you don't have top agree with every argument made in the introduction, but facts are facts. They are both leading us down the same path and we give legitimacy to their actions by voting for either of these two assholes. Political rhetoric is just that. Both of these conventions are political dog and pony shows designed to make you think there is a real choice. In the end, who ever wins will continue the same policies of printing money, uncontrolled spending, growing debt, destruction of the dollar, war, high taxes, exportation of jobs overseas, the destruction of the middle class, more in poverty and on food stamps, and the continued attack on our civil liberties and the free enterprise system. Let me know how things turn out by the next election. LouieB
Okay both you and George Carlin convinced me, I won't vote this year. I believed this probably before you were born and to an extent still do. BUT it also don't help NOT to vote. (First off George Carlin was an entertainer so saying funny and outrageous stuff made him a ton of bread, it made Utah Phillips a whole lot less, despite saying the same thing, because he wasn't nearly as funny.) I don't even think most of the Obama supporters believe that voting him back in will change all that much, but I do believe a whole bunch of bad shit WILL happen if we elect Romney, but I could be wrong too. But just in case.......I am going to vote. I didn't vote either until the Carter election, long after I could vote. A whole lot of bad shit has happened since, much of it under Republicans. And the thing is....you can vote and STILL go home and masterbate. You can have it both ways can't you. LouieB

Nothing is going to change without a massive realization by the American people of the gigantic con that is being perpetuated on us all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efKguI0NFek So on your assumption that both Obama and Romney are the same, whose only purpose is to serve their corporate masters in having the rich get richer, what are we going to do about this upcoming election? Realistically between now and November the "massive realization by the American people" is not going occur. Either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney will be the president of the United States. Should we as Americans casts our votes symbolically for a third party? Or stay home and not vote? Personally, even after all of your ranting that PBO and Romney are the same, I see deep differences in their policies and their vision of the future. Because one of those two guys is going to win shouldn't I at the very minimum cast my vote with the candidate who is closely aligned to my personal beliefs? If this "massive realization" is so needed, what are you doing to help people have this realization? Other than internet postings on a website dedicated to a mid-level alt-country band from Chicago. Are you out there supporting people whom you believe are better than the options we have now? Are you starting the revolution you so desperately think this country needs? You talk about how all this "bad shit is coming," but what are you doing about? Like your Avatar you seem to be a dog that is all bark and no bite. Is the political system in this country broken? Yes. Am I tired of politicians being ruled by money? Of course. But our politics are governed by a set of rules and the entire country has to live by those rules, like it or not. So I am going to vote, and for the first time in my adult life I am contributing to a campaign in both money and volunteer hours. I am doing something, more than just complaining away on the internet.
LouieB
So if you are as old as I am (I doubt you are quite as old but maybe we have discussed this before), I guess with your conspiricy filled brain you live off the grid (strange you are on here all the time), have all your assets in gold and live out in the wilderness somewhere with a small arsenalm a bunker and a bunch of canned food. On the other hand I kinda figure you are a regular guy with a family who is simply working a regular square job and just a bit bored. As I have said before I don't believe in all these conspiricies because basically everyone's agenda is pretty open. We live in an intense capitalist, consumer society controlled by the same old powers that be that have controlled shit for decades, centuries, millenia perhaps. There are degrees of better or worse. I kind of figure a more conservative Supreme Court is a bad idea, as is more conservative social policy. So I am going to go for any slight improvement I can get for myself and my kids. You do what you feel is right. LouieB

LouieB
Other than internet postings on a website dedicated to a mid-level alt-country band from Chicago. REALLY?? Isn't Wilco a slightly above mid-level former alt-county rock group that is now an indie rock powerhouse? Let's at least argue about somehting significant. Actually who would you rather have? A wooden vulture capitalist or a smooth non-white former community organizer and U of C law professor. Style may not trump substance according to Sparky, but style doesn't hurt. LouieB
George Carlin was a really unhappy guy.Unhappy people are often funnier than shit. He sure was. So were most of the greats and they often told the truth including Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, etc. I am not sure I would want to pattern my life after them though. brownie
So I am going to vote, and for the first time in my adult life I am contributing to a campaign in both money and volunteer hours. I am doing something, more than just complaining away on the internet.Been there, tried to do that. I once donated a substantial amount of money to a candidate I really believed in. Then I tried to volunteer my time (back when I had time to volunteer). The candidate's organization didn't want my time, they wanted more money. (Which I did not have.) So no volunteer hours for me because they didn't want me. However, I received beautiful engraved invitations to $5000/plate dinners for years. (Not that I could afford that kind of money, ever!) That sort of soured me on the whole "contribute and volunteer" thing. I do wish you better luck than I had.

As I have said before I don't believe in all these conspiricies because basically everyone's agenda is pretty open. We live in an intense capitalist, consumer society controlled by the same old powers that be that have controlled shit for decades, centuries, millenia perhaps. LouieB Fed up and disillusioned, not bored. Posting here is so exciting. Agree on the same old powers http://www.globalres...eight-families/ They are still there and more powerful than ever. We are far from being intensely capitalistic. If you mean fascistic I might agree with you there. We pretty much have an economic system in which certain business interests have control of the political machinery. In other words corporatism. Under corporatism, most wealth and power is concentrated in the hands of giant corporations as I know you are aware. Government is nothing but a tool to be used by these corporations to consolidate their wealth and power even further. The wealth and power of individuals and small businesses is crushed by the overwhelming economic might of the corporations. Eventually, the corporations end up owning almost everything and they end up dominating nearly every aspect of society. That is not capitalism IMO. Actually, it is pretty similar to socialism and fascism. It is a collectivist economic system which is not very tolerant of others' economic rights or open to competition in a free market. These corporations dominate the media, the financial system as well as the political system. There is nothing egalitarian about them. So don't expect our leaders to be. That is not what they are being paid to do. Look how they marginalized Ron Paul who threatened this system. At least they didn't kill him. They make the rules and those rules favor no one but them. I agree that their agenda is pretty open. It is obvious to me and I'm pretty dumb. They don't bother to hide what they are doing nowadays. It is an open conspiracy of thieves and crooks. Our government leaders allow them to rape and pillage without any recourse or consequence. Are any of the bankers from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo that helped bring on our current economic catastrophe going to jail? Of course not. They make the rules. They pay for both campaigns. They control the judicial system. The difference is now these powerful corporations are global and practically beyond any nations control. The game has changed and is rigged in their favor in a dangerous new way. I frankly don't have an answer as to what to do about it. Ranting makes me feel better. What other option is there? I have to blow off steam somehow. But giving my stamp of approval to it by voting for any of the current crop of corporate puppets is not going to happen let alone me giving money to one of them. If doing that makes any of you feel you are actually going to see some benefit come as a result, don't let me stop you. It's your money. I'd rather buy a few ozs of silver. From Louie's and my old drinking buddy Thomas Jefferson....“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” Do you think he knew what he was talking about?
