Magnetized
Virginia. Same as North Carolina, except it's the Blue Ridge Mountains to Virginia Beach, with the lovely gem of Charlottesville and Mr. Jefferson's legacy in the gently rolling hills of the Piedmont. Plus the southern suburbs of DC.

caliber66
6. Portugese food in Newark (Largest Portugese residents grouping in America)...YUM YUM! When choosing a Portuguese restaurant, it's important to make sure to pick one where the chef wears a fencing helmet, otherwise a hair from her mustache might end up in your feijoada. Hixter
Texas is 800 miles across -- even with the 80 MPH speed limits it's tough to make day trips to most of the state -- so I'll just make a list of things I've enjoyed over the last 6 years within 100 miles of San Antonio. San Antonio:The Alamo. Duh.The Riverwalk. Mostly a touristy place to bring visitors, but there are some good restaurants and museums along the way.Schilo's Deli. Great sandwiches and homemade root beer.Tower of the Americas. Fine dining in a revolving restaurant high above downtown San Antonio.Magnolia Pancake Haus. Best breakfast in town.Natural Bridge Caverns. We live on top of limestone, so there are lots of caves to explore in the region. The Lord's Kitchen. My favorite burger joint.Cathedral of San Fernando. The oldest cathedral in the United States also houses the remains of Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie.First Friday. Art, food, drinks and mingling on the first Friday of every month.Luling:City Market. The best BBQ I've ever eaten.Lockhart:Might as well check out City Market's competing BBQ restaurants just up the road: Kreuz, Black's, Smitty's.Guadalupe River:Take a leisurely float down the cool river. Don't forget a cooler full of beer.Austin:Austin City Limits Festival. 'Nuff said. Ditto for SxSW, Fun Fun Fun Fest and the plethora of nightly music options.6th Street. All the drunk college kids a person will ever need.Salt Lick BBQ. Not my favorite, but people seem to dig it.Junction:Canoe/kayak the South Llano River. I can tell you where to find a dinosaur footprint a few inches below the surface.Fredericksburg:A quaint little German town chock full of wineries, B&Bs, restaurants, shops and breweries. The birthplace of Admiral Nimitz. Across the street is the National Museum of the Pacific War.Just about everywhere:Wildflower season is upon us and there are bluebonnets everywhere. Take a drive in the country and enjoy them. Hixter
It seems to be a Texas tradition to photograph your babies and small children in the middle of a field of bluebonnets. People will just pull over to the side of the road and start taking photos of their offspring. I can only imagine that many bee stings result.
Lammycat
That road was poorly designed for oncoming traffic.
