BoulderEagle
I'll let someone else post the set list. Here are my personal highlights/what I can recall: --Opened with "Someday Some Morning Sometime." Really wanted to see this one. --"One Sunday Morning." He said he hadn't tried it solo before. Mesmerizing. --"You Are Not Alone" One of Tweedy's best compositions IMHO --"Pecan Pie" He said it was the most requested on the website. Always a treat. --Closed with "Shot in the Arm" In no particular order: Not For The Season Ashes of American Flags I Am Trying to Break Your Heart One Wing Remember The Mountain Bed Born to Die Alone Bob Dylan's 49th Beard Please Tell My Brother Jesus etc. New Madrid Box Full of Letters California Stars Passenger Side I'm The Man Who Loves You Jeff was hilarious as usual. He talked about the Colorado 51st state secession thing, and had some funny interactions with the peanut gallery.
bböp
:cold :cold :cold :cold :cold :cold :cold Brrrrrr...it was pretty bone chilling in the Mile High City today/tonight. I need to go thaw myself out some more, so I guess this will just be a preliminary report. But suffice it to say that Jeff turned in a very solid set with a few nice surprises (Nothing Up My Sleeve!). It was a night of long and short songs. I can't remember ever hearing both Remember The Mountain Bed and One Sunday Morning at a show; Jeff also played several of the shortest songs in his oeuvre (or "oooov-ruh," as he pronounced it) such Please Tell My Brother and Bob Dylan's 49th Beard and Box Full Of Letters. And the crowd was generally well-behaved, at least that I observed. What interaction and back-and-forth there was seemed to be all good-natured and not brought on by someone being a jackass. (I can chime in some more on "banter corner" later, if others don't. ) But yeah, for the most part, this was a night about the music and not awkwardness. So thank goodness for that. And if Jeff was still a bit rusty on a few songs, I think he said it best when he said, self-deprecatingly, "This is how I play these songs. There's a lot missing — tempo, precision. Hopefully you've listened to enough Wilco records to fill in the gaps." Haha! knotgreen
Thanks, Bbop, I was wracking my brain trying to come up with the setlist.A couple of things I wanted to mention:I was really impressed with how nice Jeff's voice sounded tonight. He may have goofed on some lyrics here and there, but I thought he sounded about as nice as I've ever heard him.I was thankful that the crowd was well behaved. After my experience at the Boulder Theatre a few years ago, I anticipated a lot of talking. I'm not sure if it's a northeast thing, or if Denver an anomaly... But doesn't the crowd usually sing most of Jesus Etc? I don't recall a time where Jeff was at the mic for the duration of the entire song! The setlist was really interesting and I'm thankful to have heard a few songs I've never heard live before... Long Time Ago and Nothing Up My Sleeve! All in all I had a really nice time! This show should tide me over until the summer
Gabe32
!! Nothing Up My Sleeve solo? Has this happened before? I've consulted the WilcoBase (http://wilcobase.com/songs.php?begin=175&num=8&numBegin=3) and don't see it being played live -- solo or with the band. I thought One True Vine was rare the other night! Glad to see it was another great show. Hope you enjoyed

It's been done at a few of the living-room shows, and I think at least once at the Vic benefits. But yeah, I was a little surprised to hear him do it tonight!

choo-choo-charlie
It was terrific - and I agree that Jeff's voice really is in top shape right now. Highlights for me were One Sunday Morning, Ashes (my request), Box Full of Letters (my wife's request) and its hilarious ending when he mocked the rock guitar solo, and Nothing Up My Sleeve. This crowd was much better than KC on Tuesday. Generally quiet during all the songs, keeping wahoos to a minimum and using the time in between songs to engage in banter with Tweedy. You could tell Jeff was really enjoying himself. Smiled a lot, even seemed to be beaming at some points. He said Pecan Pie was the most requested song in Denver and that it "might" have something to do with marijuana legalization. That got a few laughs, as did his political talk ("I say just let them all go"). Overall I preferred KC's set list with Denver's audience.

fortuneinmyhead
It has been forever since I've posted in this forum. Tweedy was in good form last night. I especially enjoyed all the David Lee Roth banter.
danelectro
Thankful he includes CO on his solo tours, haven't missed one yet. It was a good time.

Magnetized
Jeff also played One Sunday Morning at one of the Vic shows earlier this year. It was my request. He gave me the stinkeye and made some remark about it being the world's longest song. Edited December 6, 2013 by Wilco Me

Preferred B
Damn, I saw the setlist on FB that included "Anniversary" and was hoping so hard that Jeff had covered Tony Toni Tone. But I came here to check, and no, just "Nothing Up My Sleeve." I guess that's good too.

bböp
Damn, I saw the setlist on FB that included "Anniversary" and was hoping so hard that Jeff had covered Tony Toni Tone. But I came here to check, and no, just "Nothing Up My Sleeve." I guess that's good too. If he would only do "Feels Good" someday (with maybe a little dance step), I could officially retire from showgoing. (And I believe proper style on TTT is Tony! Toni! Toné!, btw) But yeah, I was debating whether to include "aka Anniversary" or something on the setlist, but whatever. I wonder how it was listed on the setlist Jeff had at his feet last night. He mentioned when he came out for the encore that the setlist had So Much Wine listed as "Summer Wine," so who knows if that was a joke or not. Interesting that he's using a setlist for these shows. I wonder if they're actually a somewhat formal setlist (which I suspect) or a big list of songs that he could do (like he used to use for solo shows). P.S. Thanks for the merge, Maudie! And P.P.S., to be fair, I think Jeff said re: One Sunday Morning that he thought it was the first time he had tried it by himself live, not that it definitely was. And man, without some of the subtle flourishes that the band arrangement adds, it's a pretty looooong, fairly monotonous song. Not that it's bad solo necessarily, but it requires a patient audience (which, fortunately, this Denver crowd mostly was).
D-9
What time did he take the stage?
bböp
What time did he take the stage? Last night? Pretty much 9 on the dot. But starting times vary a bit depending on the venue, so I would say you could expect the opening act to go on right at the announced showtime. Then Jeff about an hour later, give or take. choo-choo-charlie
As I said earlier this crowd was so much better than Kansas City, but I had to share a few stories about one knucklehead we listened to for most of the show. There was a guy sitting behind my wife and I who must have wanted to make sure everyone around him knew how much he knows about Wilco...except about 90% of the tidbits of info he was telling his buddy was pure crap. He had to tell a story to his friend at the beginning of every song about that song's origin and/or meaning. My favorite, as Tweedy picked the opening notes to Please Tell My Brothers, was "oh, this is the song he wrote when he was in the middle of his heroin addiction. You can hear it in the lyrics." This same fellow also was calling out people who were shouting out requests, yet he insisted on saying "C'mon Handshake Drugs...c'mon Hummingbird" after every tune, and he sang "Colorado Stars" at every line during the big group singalong of Cali Stars.
