I'd like to publicly thank Donald Trump for making the internet just a little more interesting.

He's coming out of the gates wayyyyy too fast.

I need him to slow it up a little bit because I want him to still be around when the debates come up.

Are there limits on how many Americans one can be actively suing while running for president?  I mean, at some point doesn't it become a bit of a conflict of interest?

With Trump being an idiot blowhard and saying some truly horrible and offensive things I am surprised he is doing so well in the polls.  He is like second in Iowa?  Not saying Republicans are racist xenophobes, but there must be something in his message that resonates with them.

Trump will fade. The caucuses here are still more than 6 months away. Remember, four years ago Michelle Bachmann won our (now defunct) straw poll before fading before the actual voting. I think that many of those who are responding positively to him are doing so because they are racist xenophobes. I think others just like the idea of someone speaking being politically incorrect. They don't necessarily agree with him, but view him as some courageous figure in what they view as our hypersensitive culture. His bombast draws attention and attention begets attention. My prediction is he will fade after he's allowed to participate in just one debate. The expert pols (Bush, Christie, Rubio, Paul, maybe even Cruz) will be ready to absolutely eviscerate. He will embarrass himself a la Perry 4 years ago and fade away.

The recent OPM hack by China is just about the biggest news story out there, but we're flooded with coverage of Confederate flags.

bread and circuses, man.

Though to be fair, on many news sights the OPM hack is the top story (as of 12 pm Central)

My condolences as you move through this difficult time.

One in fifteen Americans have had their Social Security numbers stolen by a hostile government. Everyone with a security clearance is now known to China. And it's not only the applicants, but their family members as well. Fingerprints, 10 years of work history, 10 years of home addresses, criminal records, education history, sensitive mental health histories, interviews with neighbors and co-workers, drug use history, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and much more. What a catastrophic blunder for the nation's security.

I totally agree. It's potentially disastrous as well as completely unsurprising. I'd imagine that part of our government is run as incompetently as the others.

I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot about it very soon.

In the meantime, it's not hard to understand why the media is covering the flag thing. To a large portion of this country, having a symbol of slavery flying over government buildings was hugely insulting. It needed to come down. They all do (again, I'm referring only to government - rednecks should continue to fly them so they can be identified & shunned by modern society).

Only as of a few minutes ago and only because the director just announced her resignation.

So now that the new cycle has effectively ended on the flag thing and now turned to the OPM thing isn't that what you want?  Really the scope of the hack was not officially released yesterday I think.  And it was on the news, it may have not been front and center top of the news hour, but it did get coverage. It was not buried, it was covered.  It will be continually covered, it will be the main point of conversation this weekend on the Sunday morning talk shows.  It is not going away.  But then again that doesn't really fit your narrative does it.

The one thing for sure this will again be twisted by the GOP as further proof of why Obama is the worst.  And I am sure Hillary is going to be in the mix.

Some how Benghazi will be brought into it too.

and Clinton's private emails.  You know the only reason Clinton had a private email system was because she knew about the OPM hacking beforehand and didn't want her data compromised.

I think he's out there to draw liberal fire away from the legit GOP candidates, he's a distraction. For a moderate swing voter (wherever he/she is) Marco Rubio and Bush are going to feel damned reasonable after some weeks of Trump ruling the spotlight with presumably intentional gaffes.
