Aside from my favorite song in their catalog ("I Believe"), it's nigh impossible for me to whittle down my favorites to five. I'll give it a shot though.

R.E.M.:

1. "I Believe"

2. "Wendell Gee"

3. "Sitting Still"

4. "Nightswimming"

5. "Untitled" (last song on Green)

The list really fluctuates from time to time and usually includes "Carnival of Sorts (Box Cars)," "Gardening at Night," "Perfect Circle," "We Walk," "Don't Go Back to (Rockville),"Kohoutek," "Good Advices," "Begin the Begin," "Fall On Me," "The Flowers of Guatemala," "Cuyahoga," "King of Birds," "Orange Crush," "Turn You Inside Out," "Near Wild Heaven," "Belong," "Texarkana," "Me in Honey," "Find the River," "Man on the Moon," "Ignoreland," "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight," "Crush with Eyeliner," "Strange Currencies," "Circus Envy," "Let Me In," "Electrolite," "Leave," "E-Bow the Letter," "Departure," "Daysleeper," "Imitation of Life," "I'll Take the Rain," "Until the Day Is Done," "Discoverer," Uberlin," "Walk It Back," and "Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter."

Yup. Me too. 13 years old, I was a total metal head. These two bands inspired me to pick up the guitar in the first place.

Yeah, about the same age for me too. They were some of my earliest guitar influences. My first band in grade 9 used to cover Breakin' the Law, and later as we got more proficient we added You've Got Another Thing Comin' to the mix.
