Yo La Tengo are back with a new album to follow 2013's Fade. It's called Stuff Like That There, and it's out August 28 via Matador. It features re-recorded versions of some of their old songs as well as covers of the Cure, Hank Williams, the Parliaments, Sun Ra, the Lovin' Spoonful, Darlene McCrea, and others. Listen to their cover of "Automatic Doom", a song by Special Pillow (the 1990s Hoboken band that featured Yo La Tengo's James McNew), below. Update: Also listen to their new version of "Deeper Into Movies" from I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One.

Stuff Like That There is a sequel of sorts to Fakebook, Yo La Tengo's 1990 album which also featured covers and re-workings of older songs. The official bio was written by Lambchop's Kurt Wagner—read the whole thing below the album's tracklist and the band's world tour dates. The album cover, above, was painted by Georgia Hubley.

If you pre-order via Matador, you'll get a full-print tote bag, a cassingle featuring unreleased songs, and other "mystery stuff".

YLT will be on WFMU's The Best Show tonight at 9pm! TheBestShow.net.

They are my other favorite band (besides Wilco) in the Cosmos!!! I'm hoping to catch both the Troy, NY & Toronto, ON shows on 9/23 & 9/30!

Had a weird experience with the pre-sale.  I was on right after 12:00 and clicked on "Best Available" and got two in the balcony.  I passed, figuring I'd try to get something better in the regular sale on Friday.  About 20 minutes later I got an email from ticketmaster saying the pre-sale had started.  I clicked through and ended up getting seats in the 5th row.

Fresh off celebrating their 30th anniversary as one of the most beloved and adventurous bands in rock history, Yo La Tengo announce that they will release Stuff Like That There on August 28th via Matador Records.

The trio of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew now return as a quartet, reuniting with former member Dave Schramm on electric guitar as they revisit the original concept of their beloved Fakebook (a mix of cover songs, “covers” of Yo La Tengo songs, and brand new originals) on its 25th anniversary. This unprecedented live set-up -- Ira on acoustic guitar, Georgia up-front on a small kit, and James on upright bass -- marks the first occasion of this particular Yo La Tengo incarnation touring together (and since it took them 31 years to get around to doing so, could very well also be the last).

Tracklisting:
1: My Heart's Not in It (Darlene McCrea)
2: Rickety
3: I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Hank Williams)
4: All Your Secrets (remake of track from Popular Songs)
5: The Ballad of Red Buckets (remake of track from Electr-o-pura)
6: Friday I'm in Love (The Cure)
7: Before We Stopped to Think (Great Plains)
8: Butchie's Tune (The Lovin' Spoonful)
9: Automatic Doom (Special Pillow)
10: Awhileaway
11: I Can Feel the Ice Melting (The Parliaments)
12: Naples (Antietam)
13: Deeper Into Movies (remake of track from I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One)
14: Somebody's in Love (The Cosmic Rays with Le Sun Ra and Arkestra)

I'm a sucker for that Friday I'm in love...everyone in the bar seems to agree

I'm a long-time fan of The Cure, and I actually prefer YLT's version of that song.
