hm...i can't seem to get it to work so i can listen to the first half of the show that i missed. anyone else having problems?
-
listening to this from my close proximity in DC is KILLING me...i can't believe i'm missing a tweedy solo show.
-
i've been 'ing the whole time. an amazing, amazing book.
-
absolutely brilliant photos. i agree, jeff's personality totally shines through in those photos. you've inspired me to pick up my camera again!
-
haha - just joking with you. i know how hard that is (hence why i'm not even trying!) but damn, i love that song a lot.

hop on the subway and take a walk along the brooklyn promenade. the views of downtown manhattan are so amazing they look fake. also, be sure to walk across the brooklyn bridge. and don't forget prospect park!

my friend insisted i listen to summerteeth based on the other music i liked...that was in 2000, and i was hooked. first time seeing them live was QUITE the experience...new year's eve!!! 1. Less Than You Think 2. Spiders (Kidsmoke) 3. Hummingbird 4. Handshake Drugs 5. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart 6. A Shot In The Arm 7. At Least That's What You Said 8. Jesus, Etc. 9. Theologians 10. Poor Places 11. Auld Lang Syne 12. Happy Birthday (to Glenn Kotche) 13. Livin' After Midnight 14. Love Will Keep Us Together 15. Political Science 16. I Shall Be Released 17. Somethin

i have to disagree. i think 30 Rock is hilarious.

the last time i saw them in dc (february or early march show of '05 i think?), i felt that they were very connected with the crowd. i think it was due to the recent circumstances that they may have felt a little detached or something...i know what you mean though, very little banter, etc. but keeping in mind what happened, it makes sense. but yeah, wilco definitely is not normally detached from their audience because every other show i've been to jeff has been cracking jokes and telling ridiculous stories throughout the night. so, what i'm saying is, they're still the same old band we know and

do you have an mp3? i'd love to hear it...
-
my mistake...thanks.
-
holy cow those are some of the best photos of the band i've ever seen. i absolutely love those pictures. bravo to whoever took them!
-
i really want to hear him cover (with the band) elvis costello's "(what's so funny 'bout) peace, love and understanding." i think it's a very appropriate song (a la political science) and i'd be interested to hear how jeff would interpret costello's voice...because i feel like it's impossible to not attempt to try to sound like elvis costello does when you're singing that song. but, jeff is a professional and i am not so he probably doesn't have that urge.

Who would you like to see open for Wilco?
summertweedy replied to DogsPlayingPoker's topic in Just A Fan
band of horses! magnolia electric co. my morning jacket (i WAS lucky enough to see them open for wilco and it was fantastic) -
it sure is...but i've found it's not half as fun up there...it's a whole different experience. i go up there for other bands...but i can't bear to just stand up there so far away at a wilco show and watch everyone down there pogo and sing along!

i, too, thought DC was unbelievable. they were just absolutely plowing through that set -- no room for breathers, either. i agree that jeff seemed really quiet...i love his banter so much...but maybe he thought they were just rockin' too hard. he seemed to like the crowd, i thought.
-
it was nothing short of outrageous. they never fail to blow me away live. there are no words to describe tonight. great crowd, too.
-
yeah i believe they're $35 for the dc show (face-value). that's the most expensive i've seen (for a show i've been trying to see them at) since the new year's eve show (obviously that one was more expensive). i, too, am a poor college student but the show sold out so i don't have to worry about spending money i don't have. right?
-
wow. there's no denying that resemblance in that picture. ps - those pictures are brilliant. it's been too long since i've seen them live (and it'll be longer with that sold out dc show )
-
i know that there are no words to describe the pain that you and your family are feeling right now, but...please know that you are in my thoughts. my sincere condolences and sympathy to your family.
-
yes, they're great. i saw them last night and they were awesome. my only complaint (seems to be a common one) is that their sets are pretty short. but they played both "dark don't hide it" and "riding with the ghost" which made my night. also, mr. molina is a really nice, humble dood.
-
dammit - im going to see magnolia electric co. tonight. don't they re-air that night's episode at some obscene hour? is it 3.30? anyone know? i really don't wanna miss this.

Magnolia Electric Company and Catfish Haven Tour
summertweedy replied to Dr. Steve Brule's topic in Someone Else's Song
taking some non-indie rock knowing friends to see them and i'm hoping they're on -- because the pressure's on me. wilco was our original plan but we all know what happened with that so they're going to see "this band that kinda sounds like neil young." -
