The phrases "nice domestic beer" and "Michelob Light" don't really belong in the same sentence. "bottom fermented" -

My take on it is that the Packers absolutely have to handle this the way they're currently doing it. If they let Favre come back as the starter, they can kiss Rodgers goodbye. Why would anyone put up with such treatment? If they release him, and he goes somewhere else and puts up decent numbers, they'll get crucified. Their best option is to call his bluff, which is what they've done. He had his news conference, he said he was retired, and the team moved on -- drafting two quarterbacks. That door is not just closed, it's welded shut. He can't expect it to just magically re-open becau

Because it's boring? Categorically false. Maybe. I'd rather see them playing a real game. And by that I mean, one that counts in the standings. It's ten times more boring than the home run derby, and has been for several years. The fact that I don't enjoy stupid exhibition contests means I don't enjoy fun in sports? Hmm. I think you meant to say "Some people really seem to hate meaningless crap in sports." So I'm a bad sports fan. I get it.

There should be an option for "I couldn't possibly be bothered to give a shit." One of the only things in major team sports that interests me less is the NBA slam dunk competition. Oh, and the Pro Bowl.

I believe it started there, but it was brewed in the U.S. for several decades. -

I don't mind this album. Coming from me, that's high praise for a Beck album. I don't really care for his stuff in general.

Maybe they'll make Budweiser stop tasting like Clydesdale piss. -
Now that you mention it ... I seem to recall that I skipped my 20-year reunion to see Steely Dan.

Yeah, the Packers seem to be playing this one correctly. Why did Favre think they'd grant him a release to go play for one of their division rivals?

Jeff and Wilco mentioned in an AP story wrapping up last night's fundraisers, which of course is mostly about Bernie Mac's gaffe. Bernie Mac makes off-color joke at Obama event By ASHLEY M. HEHER, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 26 minutes ago CHICAGO - Comedian Bernie Mac endured some heckling and a campaign rebuke during a surprise appearance Friday night at a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Toward the end of a 10-minute standup routine at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Chicago, the 50-year-old star of "The Bernie Mac Show" joked about menopause,

This argument has gotten some new legs: I doubt it'll get any traction, and personally I don't think it's a big deal, but it'd be highly amusing to see something like this end up in Antonin Scalia's strict constructionist lap. As Salon.com pointed out:

He's making something like $7.5 million for this year. For that kind of scratch, I'd keep playing as long as they let me.

No offense to any North Dakotans here, but I don't recall there being much of anything to see or do in that whole state. We passed through on our way west one summer ... it didn't leave much of an impression. South Dakota, on the other hand, has a few places worth checking out.

I skipped mine. They were charging over $100 to go to the damn thing. I didn't like most of those people anyway, and I have e-mail addresses for most of the ones I did like. My idea of a reunion would be to get all of my old poker buddies back together for one evening, lots of pizza and local brew (Bell's), playing cards into the wee hours. I'd pay $100 for that, but not for a stupid event at a stupid hotel with a bunch of stupid people.
