Because Fox wants you to think that it was done by OH MY GOD ISLAMIST TERRORISTS.

Fox News is blaming the fires on Al Qaeda. Way to make EVERYTHING about terrorism, Roger Ailes. If he could have linked the Democrats to the fires somehow, I'm sure he would have. Regardless, this sucks.

Things I think are wrong with this country

Yes, but we have a different sport here that appropriated the term and then became really huge, resulting in the need for an alternate term to avoid confusion. We had to call it something, and I think a name based on the phrase "Association football" is a pretty decent compromise. I tend to refer to it as "football" anyway. No argument with the rest of your screed ... though I'd make one observation about your "American tourists" item: British tourists really aren't any better. Also: I never watched "Firefly," and though I do prefer the British version of "The Office," the American one has -
Dumbledore, Snape, and Cornelius Fudge once staged their own "Tri-Wizard Tournament," if you know what I mean.

The thought occurred to me.

It's nothing in terms of sending out nastygrams, but for filing actual lawsuits, it's a huge number, and it wouldn't play very well in the press.

As for potential nastiness resulting from this, I'm sort of hoping for the "safety in numbers" effect. There were SO many Oink users, and I was a bit player among that throng. If they go after people based on level of use, they'd take quite a long time to get around to me, if they ever did. Probably fooling myself, but that's the direction my thoughts are going...

I noticed this one today ... it's the first time I've seen it, so it's probably just a typo, but it made me laugh: "There was considerable traffic to his door," Browne said. "He was pretty indiscrete about it." (from this news story)

I've lived in the midwest my whole life and I've never heard anyone say something like that.

I think your brother is having a bit of fun with you. ...but I still think Eli is retarded.
-
Yes, but it's Eli, not Peyton.
-
At the Detroit show Jeff mentioned something about having strep, but he sounded fine so I didn't really think much about it. Maybe it's gotten worse?
-
I'm not real worried. There are thousands upon thousands of people who used Oink a lot more than I ever did. I uploaded two or three discs a LONG time ago, but they probably weren't from any of the RIAA's labels, so I might have that going for me.

Using "lead" as the past tense of "lead." I know it's pronounced like the soft metal, people, but it's spelled "led." This has begun to seep into the mainstream media. I occasionally spot it in stories from so-called professional journalists. Editorial standards have really gone to shit.

Looks like it's Python-related.

I'd start with "Have you seen a VW commercial lately?"

Yup, I don't mean to rip on Harris in any way ... I liked his interpretation, but he just didn't seem to have the vocal ability any longer to carry off a serious, ass-whupping wizard character like Dumbledore.
-
Yup. Now please don't share them. Sweet.

I'm cheering against the Rockies just so they'll think that God didn't want them to win.
-
There's nothing slow about it.

I liked Seinfeld but have never understood the fuss over CYE -- though I haven't seen any of it since the first season or so.
-
Yeah, me too. When I surf onto one of the films on cable, I usually have that "oh yeah" moment when I realize that it's not McKellen. I prefer Gambon to Harris (RIP). He's got a more powerful voice, which is an asset for that character.

Check here or here later this week and please observe the following message posted at the first link: There are rumors of various recordings that will likely surface. Give them some time.

You're missing the point. These shows are posted as a favor to fans by people who put in a lot of effort to record them, clean them up, and make them available -- all for free. Tapers nearly always request that shows not be traded in a lossy format, to preserve the integrity of the original recording. They don't care if you listen to a show as MP3s -- they just don't want you sharing it that way. If you share a show in MP3 format, you're violating the wishes of the hardworking person who put that recording together, and you risk pissing off that taper, and/or other tapers, who may then decid
