  1. Thanks. I just read a couple of reviews, and I'll have to check this out.
  2. So, this must be the hundredth or so time that this album cover has been posted here ... and all along I have found myself wondering: what the hell is it? Anyone care to put an artist and title to the image?
  3. I don't consume a whole lot of mainstream media, so could you point out to me a few instances of this? I'm genuinely curious. So far, the only people I've seen who've spoken out against Sharpton and Jackson have been on this message board and in a couple of columns written by guys I've never heard of.
  4. So, reminiscing about what one's father said decades ago is the same thing as sharing and expressing his viewpoints? Awesome.
  5. I'm not talking about their hearts. I'm talking about their circumstances. I'm sure they'll be dealing with this for a long time, emotionally, mentally -- possibly for the rest of their lives. I fully expect them to sue (if they haven't already), and I hope they win. But even if they don't, let's not delude ourselves by thinking that this episode has somehow ruined their lives. It absolutely hasn't, and though it may seem callous to some to say so, that's largely because of their privileged backgrounds. That's just a fact.
  6. I don't think it's callous. It's true. If, as you say, the shoe were on a different-colored foot, I'd think differently. I'm just saying that while these guys were undoubtedly subject to a unspeakable injustice, they'll have no problem landing on their feet because of who they are, how much money their parents have, and where they come from. That's not callous -- it's a fact.
  7. I've always had trouble with that one myself. And those aren't even the worst lyrics in the song.
  8. So glad to hear that Cris is back and doing well. I hope they come through these parts...
  9. Johnny wasn't glorifying that act of violence. In fact, he was doing the opposite. A sizable portion of the rap/hip-hop I've heard glorifies a lifestyle that involves violence, greed, and misogyny. Not all, to be sure -- but it's certainly more pervasive in rap lyrics than in other genres, at least from what I've heard. I'm sure there are white rock bands who glorify the same kinds of stuff ... and I won't listen to them for the same reasons. It's not a racial thing.
  10. The download is really confusing. I downloaded an .ASPX file. WTF? So, I changed the file extension to .MP4, and voila -- it plays just fine in QuickTime.
  11. ND: tangerine Diet Rite. Cod I love this stuff.
  12. I said it before and I'll say it again: military service should be compulsory, like it is in a lot of other countries. Give your country two(?) years of your life, and your country sends you to college. Or something like that. It works elsewhere -- why not here?
  13. These guys will be fine. Yes, it sucks that this happened to them, and I acknowledge that they are the victims of a horrible injustice, but believe me, they'll recover. They come from a culture where this sort of thing won't even be a speed bump. If these were poor kids who were working two jobs just to afford school, I'd be more worried about them.
  14. So, when does his new show on XM start?
  15. Jack should go back to CTU in the next episode and then disappear for about half an hour. In the meantime, crises pop up all over L.A., Buchanan and Doyle and Milo keep asking where Jack is, and Chloe just rolls her eyes each time and replies with some variation of "um ... he's ... indisposed." Then, just as Buchanan is about to lose his mind with about fifteen minutes left in the episode, a door opens, you hear a flushing toilet in the background, and out walks Jack, holding a newspaper, with a few squares of toilet paper trailing from one shoe and a huge look of relief on his face. Then
  16. Yeah ... I mean, he's had a hell of a long day, is probably beyond exhausted, and must really need to go to the bathroom by now. He can't be in top form at this point.
  17. Whoa, now ... I'm a lifelong Bears fan.
  18. We like it. Hang around and you'll get hooked. Oh, and good luck with TicketBastard!
  19. From Salon.com's "War Room" blog yesterday: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cheney in charge The Washington Post says that the White House is looking for a "war czar" to oversee the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The catch? Dick Cheney already has the job, and he's not letting go. That's how retired Marine Gen. Jack Sheehan sees it, anyway. Sheehan says the White House offered him the "war czar" job recently but that he turned it down because he thinks Cheney and his people still have the most pull within the administration. "There's the residue of the Cheney view -- 'We're going to win, al
