So I guess you didn't read my initial post in this thread at all.

No, but it will probably worsen all three. -

It's this thread that's blowing my mind. That, and this cup of coffee. -
The number of All-Star game appearances should be excluded from all HOF deliberations. Anything subject to fan voting is not a real statistic. That said, Ripken's enshrinement is deserved.

Bagwell must first endure a few years' penance for his long history of criminal beard grooming. Then he'll get his shot.

Golly!

As much as anything, that game showed yet again why we need a playoff. Boise State should have a chance to play for the title -- in a playoff. I wonder if someone could successfully challenge the BCS in court to force a playoff system. I'm thinking eight teams, and any undefeated Division 1-A team automatically gets an invite. If there are more than eight undefeated teams (would never happen, but for the sake of argument) the slots would be determined by strength of schedule. Just a thought.

I didn't know about his animation/special effects work. What a talented guy. His name is one I recall seeing in many album credits over the years -- sometimes listed only as "Sneaky Pete." Story Flying Burrito Brothers guitarist dead SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow, a steel guitar prodigy who rose to fame as one of the original members of the Flying Burrito Brothers, has died. He was 72. Kleinow, who also worked in film as an award-winning animator and special effects artist, died Saturday at a Petaluma convalescent home near the skilled nursing facility where

*ahem*. Let me tell you about a band called The Young Fresh Fellows...

I refuse to do any actual ranking (and also, apparently, to limit my response to ten albums) but here are my entries, alphabetically by artist... I don't tend to cut sportscasters much slack, because they're the luckiest sons-o'-bitches on the planet. They get paid good money to sit in prime seats at sporting events and yammer endlessly about what they're seeing. And they're not even necessary. I don't need some idiot telling me what's going on when I can see the action perfectly well on my television screen. The "insight" provided by 90% of all sidekick analysts doesn't make me feel like I understand the game any better -- in fact, I usually feel dumber after listening to them. I remember reading a year or two ago about a media labor

No, despite their seemingly constant attempts to get me to do so. The Ann Arbor News is one of the worst newspapers I have ever seen -- worse even than the Kalamazoo Gazette, the paper I grew up with (the same owner presides over both). The News salespeople hounded us for years -- probably three to five calls per month, plus lots of other contacts -- before we finally told them that we thought their paper was a piece of shit. Somehow the pursuit eased up a bit after that. I support the newspaper industry, really I do ... but there just isn't one around here that I can justify subscribing to. -
It's healthier to just have a grudge against Musburger. He's a twit.

There's a guy at my company with the same last name as you. In fact, he got married to someone else who works here a while back, so there are now two people with that last name.

Melissa gets this. I look through it sometimes. The recipes do look good. -
I think speculation is just that: speculation.

I think Harrison is definitely eligible. His name wasn't Lennon or McCartney, after all.

The New Yorker Atlantic Monthly Sports Illustrated (I think ... I didn't have a subscription but I think someone got me one for Christmas) Salon.com (online-only) I think we also just got Newsweek for Christmas. I haven't been that thrilled with the Atlantic lately ... I may let that lapse at some point. I used to subscribe to Uncut, but it was too expensive and I was starting to lose patience with their insistence on putting no one under 60 years old on the cover, among other things. I also get some magazines I didn't actually subscribe to (from AAA and the Society for Technical Communi -
