Check it out sometime. There's a reason Ted Leo covered it, and it wasn't just for the sake of irony.

Yes, Favre has every right to sign with any team who'll take him, and to continue his football career. I won't argue that. But the guy's an ass. Make a fucking decision and stick with it, big guy. One of two things will happen: his play will be mediocre and fans will start calling for him to be benched, or he'll get hurt early in the season and miss most or all of the rest of the schedule while collecting his paycheck. Either way, I don't see a Pro Bowl season from Mr. Favre.

There's some grey area here. How many tracks are on your copy? I have the bonus-disc version with 21 tracks across the two discs, and the vinyl includes those same 21 tracks and is a true double album (six tracks on side 1, five each on sides 2 through 4). edit: Analogman got to this before me. Anyway, that's why I think of it as a double album.

I'd add Gold ... I recently bought that on vinyl and have been rediscovering it -- truly a fantastic album, and though it might be better if some of the chaff had been culled from it, I think it approaches (but does not surpass) Being There as one of the best double albums of the last fifteen years. After Gold, however ... there are gems on each record, but I don't listen to those albums front to back like I do Wilco records.

Pixies' Doolittle 20th anniversary tour
cryptique replied to Three dollars and 63 cents's topic in Someone Else's Song
Somehow that post ^ seems less out of place in a Pixies thread than it might elsewhere. edit: Never mind. There was a spam post immediately above that got deleted before I submitted this one. -
To me, too. I think I have about 2½ months until I can change back.

He's a dick, and he has some good records.

Glad to hear it worked out OK, though it sucks that you have to get a new card. Certainly could be worse, I suppose.

It's a good kind of dirty, though. I've ordered them both now. Starting to think about Rock Band...

Thanks, all. I didn't figure there'd be a birthday thread this year due to all the name change confusion, but big thanks to Analogman for putting two and two together. It was a quiet, low-key birthday, just like I wanted.

I don't see what the big deal is. Would you seriously stop listening to Ryan Adams because of this?
-
I think it took ten or fifteen minutes to get the e-mail confirmation. Sounds like something really did go wrong with your order. Hope you're able to get that resolved in a satisfactory manner.

Why do you hate choke slams?

I ordered the mono box set from Tower and got a confirmation e-mail message along with a link that allows me to track the order status at any time. That link provides comprehensive information about the order, and once it has shipped, will provide carrier information and a tracking number.

Nobody has satellite radio anymore. Kidding. I really wish I did. Our rental car had it during our vacation, and I loved it.

Dylan stopped by cops in New Jersey. HAHA
cryptique replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Someone Else's Song
I worked in an office over a decade ago with people who were older than 22 back then and didn't know who Bob Dylan was or what he looked like. Their interest in music rarely extended beyond what was on the charts that week. -
Well, one thing's for sure -- there'll suddenly be multiple copies of each album at every used CD store.

I'm 6'1". On the rare occasions that I'm at a general admission show and right up on the stage, I don't let shorter people move in front of me unless it's someone I know and/or came with. That's my spot, dammit. I'm not going to apologize for being taller than average. If you can't see past me, move. That said, if I'm at a seated event, I often scrunch down a bit if there's a shorter person directly behind me. Most of my height is in my upper body, so I sit like I'm much taller than 6'1". Most of the time at GA shows there's someone taller in front of me whom I can't see around, but usuall

From what I've read, the initial run is limited to 10,000 copies, which are numbered. I imagine they'll do subsequent runs, but they won't be numbered (I know, who gives a shit) and maybe they'll change it up just enough (different packaging?) that those of us who are buying the initial release will still feel special somehow.

Yeah, I never understood that complaint either.
-
I feel your pain.

OK, I thought it was an Amazon exclusive. It's available for pre-order at a few other places, including Tower, Amoeba, Borders, Barnes & Noble, MusicDirect, and CDUniverse. I just ordered it from Tower -- a bit cheaper than the other prices I've seen.

Well, fuck. Yesterday (8/12) I put the stereo and mono box sets into my Amazon cart, but didn't pull the trigger to buy them (I was going to wait until tomorrow -- payday). Today I find that the mono set has been moved out of my cart into the "saved items" section, and the product page now has this message: I had heard that this was a limited edition thing, but did anyone really expect it to be so limited that it would sell out four weeks before the release date? I signed up for an e-mail if the item becomes available again, but at this point I'm thinking that I missed the boat.

They don't fly in/out of Detroit, so it's no use to me.

Aw man. That's a huge loss. RIP, Les.
