There's nothing to do in Iowa. However, if you need dinner, are a carnivore, and are anywhere near it, check out Rube's in the tiny town of Montour. They now have a second location in Waukee (just west of Des Moines). It's a grill-your-own-steak place that my friends and I used to go to as often as we could afford it (which wasn't often -- we were college students). edit: ...and holy shit, I just looked at their "new" "menu," and it's totally expensive now. I mean, it was a bit pricey even in my day, but fucking hell.

I was just watching Idiocracy on cable over the weekend ... "the future" doesn't sound so good. -

It does, but there's only one per page (instead of one for every post on the page) and it's not exactly conveniently located... -
I'm listening to The Palace At 4AM (Part 1) today ... man there's a lot of great stuff on that record.

That's because with the upgrade, it thinks you haven't read any of the threads. If you mark everything read, it should start to function OK for you again afterwards. -

OK, a few things I've noticed ... I realize that the way I use the board has evolved in a personal, idiosyncratic way and no one else may miss the same features I do, but here's my "waaaaaah!" list of minor bitches: 1. What happened to the TOP button? 2. The "mark board read" link at the very bottom does not appear to do what it says. I used to click the "mark all forums read" link pretty often, and if this function no longer works, it'll be ... inconvenient. (I don't like the new location for this link either, but I don't suppose that's something that can be changed.) 3. In the drop-dow -

Still don't like this song. I do like "On and On and On," however.

Realization about peoples changing perception of the new album

That doesn't jibe with my memory of how it all went down. Did you read both album discussion threads? -
Fuck. That last shred of hope I was holding onto is gone. RIP, Jay.

Still not wanting this to be true.
-
I'm still holding out hope that it's not true, but that management company page scares me.
-
I have not been able to find ANYTHING about this online. If it were true, surely there'd be some chatter, beyond a undocumented Wikipedia edit and one post to a Facebook group. I'm calling bullshit ... and I sure hope I'm right. edit: the line about his death has now been removed from Wikipedia.

Just got this via the Posies mailing list... link to article Exclusive: Big Star Rhino Box Confirmed 05/22/2009 Four discs, tons of rarities, "best ever" live recordings, and more. Wow. By Fred Mills Now this is a great way to start the holiday weekend off: with Big Star news. Although the topic of the long-rumored Big Star box set has been cropping up on blogs and message boards for a couple of years, there's really been no official confirmation, leading to much speculation as to what might be included (e.g., what stuff has been lurking in the vaults of Ardent Studios). Even dru

Shall we review the reviews? I found this one to be disjointed and shallow. -
