  1. you obviously know little about malpractice cases. sure there are plenty of real cases that deserve representation and retribution. however, there also are many cases that have little merit yet will go to trial as it takes very little evidence to be allowed to trial. once a case goes to trial there's very little chance of a doctor prevailing in the case no matter what the evidence. (if someone has data stating otherwise i'd like to see it. my views are based on talking with professional witmess doctors who have testified for hire in many cases. ) so settlements are usually made and the doct
  2. i like many of those mentioned as well as the sound of silver. also would add : gillian welch- time the revelator zero 7- simple things deerhunter-cryptograms
  3. maybe because he made his millions off the misfortune of others, once "mimicking" the voice of a fetus in court to try and sway the jury. malpractice lawyers don't exude trust.
  4. that is utterly ridiculous. saw the line up in seattle and it was the least impressive. late bennett is great, there's nothing like a band on the edge of insanity. but they may be even better now.
  5. that's sucky news. i did make a small donation to his family via paypal. i couldn't get the link to work on the mec site but found it on billboard http://tinylink.com/?F4GvrBUqFs i really enjoyed MEC's show down here this fall, one of the best i saw this year.
  6. didn't really mean to compare the two except in that i haven't warmed to either and both have received a good deal of critical praise in the press. i keep wondering if i'm playing the grizzly bear lp at the wrong speed.
  7. it's only been around for ten years or so! (No Depression mag that is.)
  8. i too have listened to some of the songs online but haven't gotten what the fuss is all about. from all descriptions i should love it. although the same could be said for grizzly bear and i'm giving up and selling back my yellow house lp.
  9. ever since he stood up the festival crowd in asheville, nc circa '98 to go to woodstock #136 just to get to introduce another band, i have considered him a major tool.
  10. good choices and thanks for updating us. i'm always wondering what happens when someone gets all these recs. i still need kid a myself.
  11. i checked what the presale had left last night and they were way in the back for a group of four. i'm sure there will be good seats early tomorrow but i wouldn't waste much time.
  12. no ifs ands or buts LCD SS- All My Friends
  13. i'll second or third the thanks but yeh, y'all don't go and try and trade this version of the show. bad form.
  14. that live daft punk cd is supposed to be great. anyone heard it?
  15. thanks, ya know i think i unsubscribed from their emails last month. they sent me so many for events i'd rather not hear about then wilco comes and surprises us with a visit. anyways, thanks again. i ended up row u but dead middle, so should be about the best sound possible. i'm traveling saturday so i really needed to get them today.
  16. thanks. how'd you find the password?
  17. we were in the second row of the fixed seats last time, they had 2 or 3 rows of chairs in the very front. sound was pretty bad down that close my group thought. saw ryan adams there a few months back and was in the second row of the back tier and the sound was a lot better but the soundguy continued to screw with it through the show and it became all muddled. i guess i'm pretty picky about the sound. but y'all are right it's a great venue except its in north charleston.
  18. well we do have at least three "indy" record stores in charleston with 52.5, monster (part of cat's music) and millennium. i'm beyond miffed i somehow missed the real presale on the no. chas. tix. how did that happen? i got the new dates but somehow missed the local date. i can't make heads or tails of this next "presale" on ticketmaster either. best of luck, i know i'm hoping for some.
  19. great recommendations so far. i'll also suggest lcd soundsystem, if he doesn't have it, and dan deacon, who is whacked out crazy. odd nosdam is more of a noisy electronic amalgam of found sounds, mild beats, and fuzz. a band called growing are more pure electronica sans beats. but definitely check out deepchord present echospace : the coldest season. deep ambient house music on all analog equipment. incredible. i've been wanting to get this. good to hear another recommendation.
  20. well, for mac there's senuti to get your tunes from ipod to mac http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/
  21. 256 aac is decent sounding but you can tell it's compressed if you really try. it's what i use. if you can bump it up a little more it would be better, especially if you're gonna use this for a home stereo and not just portable audio. be sure to turn on error correction in your preferences. if you want to get crazy you can download another program to rip the cds then import to itunes, as itunes supposedly isn't as good as other programs. i'm a mac guy so i'm not up to speed on what the best encoders are nowadays. The LAME encoder for mp3 used to be the best and might still be. just remember
  22. tonight while the wife's away and i can crank the stereo: nick cave and the bad seeds- abattoir blues the twilight sad - fourteen autumns and fifteen winters deerhunter- cryptograms my bloody valentine- loveless last night it was: side three of the white album the live sides off of the reissue of daydream nation a little of the velvet underground bootleg quine tapes and iron and wine's shepherd's dog as well as a few old local cds from starless and 1984.
