i wouldn't like it if they were only playing arenas instead of clubs and auditoriums.

SBS Preorders: Put your MusicToday bitching here!
willywoody replied to lost highway's topic in Just A Fan
musicnextweek about made me blow red wine out me nose, too funny. -
i knew it would be like this. if grado would only ship my cartridge back to me this millennium i too could hear what i knew was there all the time. i'm refusing to listen to the cd unless my needle is not back in place by this weekend , then all bets are off, and i'll check out the cd.

well, mine came (lp/cd) yesterday i think but infortunately a friend wrecked my needle which had to be sent off to be fixed. so no turntable for 10 days now and it's not looking good for my planned weekend wilco vinyl magnum opus spinning party. good thing i wasted the 13 bucks on the rush delivery but at least it came on time. so how's the vinyl sound compared to the cd? -
i'm sure it will be able to be bought in the future but don't be surprised if its out of stock for a month or two. pressing plants are pretty backed up.

there are 2 versions on the market now that i know of. the us pressing and a newly re-mastered eu pressing on 180 gm vinyl. i had a glitch in my copy of the us version and sold it and bought the import. (noone else i know has had a problem with either pressing) they sound worlds apart. the us release sounds very similar to the cd. the eu copy is less murky and more in your face. it sounds more alive. however, on my stereo it's too much and i like the original us pressing better. i'd just think about what your system sounds like and go with what you think sounds better. the eu pressing does not

that list looks more representative of the indy coalition stores i know of.

my first wilco concert was in feb of '97, possibly valentines day if i remember correctly, in philly. i was by myself being separated from my ex-wife. i didn't know much about wilco except a.m. and being there and didn't know uncle tupelo yet. they started off with "misunderstood" and i started looking around like "is this wilco?" it took a couple of lines in to figure out it was them and not the opener whom i had missed. i think they played "we've been had" for an encore as i remember humming that song all the way back to the car. second time was at wavefest in fall of '97 and then there wa

maybe it was where you were sitting or just the pa mix in general. last time i saw wilco i was down front, in front of nels, and i could barely hear the solos for all the bass. i've had a similar experience in a separate venue with ryan adams. i bet the show was sounding great at the soundboard at both, but my location in the audeience caused the crummy sound, or at least worsened the sound. and nels with wilco is nels restrained. you should see him solo.

the ra and cardinals show in charleston last year also had a lot of dead influences mixed with flat out noise explosions. there were parts where my mouth dropped wide open.

one cd to encapsulate your music loving history

how's the rest of that bbc disc? i might have to get that. i've been concentrating on vinyl initially but i'd love to hear some live recordings. -
while i wholeheartedly support indy record stores the fees to join the independent coalition are greater than many small stores can afford. many of the stores in the indy coalition are actually small chains or are the real big indy stores like waterloo.

that yo la tengo retrospective is a good sampler. i was late to the game on them, coming in on summer sun, and wasn't impressed initially. however, after having my mind blown on the recent tour i picked it up and now pine over the vinyl on ebay that's a tad pricey.

what's stereolab's "golden ball" on? i've recently gotten into them but i don't think i know that one, although i'm not familiar with all the song titles even on the albums i do have. -
no. i give heroin a special place. i'm not talking loads of jail time , just enough to show you're serious. i'm just not certain rehab itself is enough to scare someone to stay away from heroin. rehab will clean him up temporarily and give him tools to use to try and stay away from heroin when he's released but after that it's gonna be up to him and whatever support system he has around him. rock stars just aren't usually know for their support systems and as long as he tours the drugs will be around. i think to be successful in being drug free he'll have to have a drug free band and a no

i say throw the book at anyone caught with heroin. it'll only help them.

and charleston,sc. they still get airplay on local radio here. about as much as wilco does.

that would do the trick i think. wonder how much it would cost? i'll look around some this week at work.

that's a cool list. keep 'em coming. -
so i put together a playlist today to fill one cdr and to try and include bands and songs that describe my music affections over my slightly 40 plus years. i began with one of my first albums and tried to include up to my most recent interest. i also kept the list to albums i was into around the time of their release and tried to avoid too many of the "hits" on some of the more popular titles. so here 'tis: Jet Paul McCartney & Wings Band On The Run Do Ya Electric Light Orchestra afterglow Police On My Back The Clash Sandinista! Louie Louie The Pretenders Pretenders II Change O

she just played live on world cafe' today. a friend of mine hates her with the heat of 10,000 suns so all i can do is laugh when i hear her. she's not my cup of tea but the songs are "nice." anyways if you get world cafe' in the evening where you are you can check it out or i bet it'll be on their website in a few days.
