I have a live album titled Live Wood which is from the awesome tour following Wild wood(his show at the Metro that tour was outstanding). Great stuff as he stretched out those songs live. Not sure if its a ltd release or what. Have not seen it around at all since I got it.

Saw Prince at the Metro. It was an after show "secret" gig. Hear dabout it on WCBR and got up by the venue and there was line around the block, knew it wasn't a rumor then. Played from 12:30 til 4:30. Buddy Miles played with him as did the kid from the Cosby show. D'arcy was standing next to me too. Walked out and the sky was getting light and the birds were starting to chirp.

SAw Guided By Voices at Thurstons 1994. At the time they were not playing outside of Dayton very much at all. It was a fantastic show. Pretty much all of Bee Thousand. I became an instant fan as I was dragged to the show by a friend of mine, who explained the rareness of the gig despite my protests that I had been up for nearly 40 hours at that point. Glad I made it!

One of the stranger shows was Oingo Boing opening for the Tubes at the Star Theater in Merrilllville. My buddy and I got kicked out for not staying in our seats. We came to see OB anyway so we didnt mind missing the Tubes. As we were being escorted out, Danny Elfman intervened and wanted to know what was happening, security said we had to leave so he came out and talked to us for about a half hour. I still have the signed checkered Vans to prove it. Fall 83.

I Need You and/or What You're Doing

They played it at soundcheck in Chicago, either that or someone was blasting it in their car in the underground garage

The clapping thing kinda gave that set of encores an uneven ending, but really the spontaneity of it made the show more special in my opinion. I also think another such moment occured when Jeff couldn't really get a good whistle in Red Eyed and Blue/I got you. I'm still processing what a great show I saw last night. I also took Jeff's suggestion, no work for me today! Yay!

[quote name='bbop' date='Sep 12 2007, 11:46 PM' post='945086' Misunderstood Cars Can't Escape> Spiders (Kidsmoke) This was just amazing! Did anyone else hear them beginning the Steely Dan cover Any Major Dude just before Cars? I thought for sure thats what they were playing before it kicked in. I guess the tape will tell the tale!

I was pulling into the Grant Park garage around 3:50 to the strains of Magazine Called Sunset, ran up to the park and I was too late. wah wah.

I saw a mic up right next to the sound board, not sure if that belonged to the video cam tho.

I never saw them back in the 90s when I lived in Chicago, but they were sure hyped a lot. Kinda wished i did tho. Loved the Dig doc, but was a little let down by the albums i bought after seeing it. Lots of killer stuff, but not killer albums back to front. I could listen to That Girl Suicide for hours straight!

Shouldve been in love would be good to quote an earlier post. If there would be rarities to hear tho I would have to say Hotel Arizona. Personally cant ever remember seeing them play that live. Also, haven't got my tix in the mail yet Hmmmmmm?

Can't wait to see this, and the Abbey show! Saw(and met) him last year at Intonation. I think his performance surprised a lot of the audience because it was pretty darn good, much more than a novelty show from one of rock's famous recluses, acid casualty, or other cliche that he has been described as. When he came to the side of the stage to sign autographs, he seemed a little like a deer in the headlights with the attention he was receiving. He was very cordial posing for pics etc. and had a smile thatsaid a thousand words to anyone who knew his background. Also, vh1 classic showed a Barre

I got thru on my 3rd or 4th click sec 103 row Q. After being greedy for Last year's Auditorium and being shut out, I figured I would grab these and it looks as if I was lucky to get some. Was a little shocked at the price ($53 total) but don't really see many shows any more, and it should be a great venue to see them. I also have a feeling they will play Chicago again later in the fall. I got the impression, that last years thanksgiving shows were a "renewed" tradition.

I have to agree, that its hard to dismiss someone like Billy Corgan who obviously is a talented fellow. The problem though isnt a question of his gifts but how he presents them. I didn't think Zwan was as awful as some made it seem, but when you tell everyone that its a "band" and everyone in the band is in it for the long haul and it implodes doesn't give it any credibility. I really grew tired of listening to the hype when on the eve of his first(this could be argued) "solo" record he takes out a page in the newspaper to promote the "return" of the Pumpkins. I think this doomed his sol

I second this!

I first saw them in 1995 at the Sunshine Fest in Crown Point, IN with the Jayhawks. I've heard that Jeff references this as the worst Wilco show EVER, but I loved it. Maybe it was because it was during that god awful heatwave that summer or maybe the crown town crowd was kinda lame. I dunno his reasons. I was excited to see them as I had never seen Uncle Tupelo figuring I would eventually get around to doing so eventually. It was this same mentality that made me miss Nirvana as well as the Jam many years earlier. I haven't seen a set in the timeline but itwas mostly UT and AM songs(my bu
