  1. When we were kids I told my stepbrother to hide inside of the dryer during hide and seek. We put him in, and shut the door, which he couldn't open from the inside. Needless to say when my stepmom found out I got into some serious shit.
  2. How funny is it that Sawyer is all of a sudden some kind of a saint? Risking his life to save Claire, taking up for Hurley. The show definitely took a major aesthetic lose with the death of Alexis. The future relationship with Sayid and Ben is intriquing thus far. it seems as if Widmore will become a very central character as we through these next handful of episodes and into next season. I agree that last night was a good, action-packed, multi-layered episode. It may be that way for the rest of the season as we know they are cramming 9 episodes into 6.
  3. That's one hell of a eulogy. You can sense the love throughout it. I'll be seeing the E Streeters on Wednesday in Charlottesville, Virginia with Danny in my thoughts. The setlists the past few shows have been simply amazing, touching on all corners of the catalog, including rarities, covers and a healthy sampling from the great new album, "Magic." I saw a Springsteen show on the Rising tour just a month or so after a very close friend killed themself, and moreso than anything else it was as healing a moment as I've ever felt at a rock concert. I expect Bruce and the band are healing themselves
  4. I just got a nice little package of tix for Louisville today. Sure will be nice camping out all day in summer weather versus Chicago in February.
  5. Damn, I totally missed that when it aired, but I'm glad I saw it now. That whole album is so ridiculously good. If you were to count it as a Wilco album, it would be above at least two official albums for me. Also reminds me that I need to track it down on vinyl. Thanks for the link.
  6. springsteen was initially going to open and close "born to run" with two different takes of "thunder road," but damn if it isn't perfect the way it is.
  7. On the wilcoworld page it says Cary, NC is next Wednesday the 30th.
  8. How about a new album while we're at it. I mean Dinosaur JR nailed it with "Beyond." Surely the Mats could deliver a worthwhile release.
  9. Not to go off on a side road, but high school smoking areas bring back tons of memories. I'm sure there isn't one left in the country now right? I mean how did they even exist when they did? It's always been 18 right? There was a smoking area at my high school when I graduated in '92, and I know it existed for several years beyond that. This really was the place that the hoods and miscreants hung out, just like in "Freaks and Geeks." That was always the first place you went the morning after a big concert to see how many people had on shirts from the night before and to trade notes. I remember
  10. She was on crutches last week in Richmond and it sort of made for a bit of an off show, and no "Myriad Harbor" that night, and that's a real shame as it's my fav on "Challengers." They did hit all of the hight points in the back catalog though. So, so show.
  11. That Phoenix San Antonio game that just ended was a classic. One ridiculous shot after another. Duncan hitting his only three of the season, Nash's falling out of bounds three at the end of the second overtime. It's insane to think that either one of these two teams could win it all, yet one of them will be out in the first round. Also, if the NBA took the top 16 overall teams vs 8 from the east and 8 from the west, Golden State would've been a #4 in the east. This is going to be one of the best postseasons of all time.
  12. I just found this on backstreets.com, a popular Springsteen magazine and website: The Federici family and the E Street family have requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund -- The fund's website is now up and running, where it is described as "dedicated to the research and development of new and effective treatments for melanoma through funding for additional clinical trials based upon Danny's melanoma treatments and other methods headed by Dr. Paul Chapman [at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center]. Our other objective is to raise awareness f
  13. Okay, let's be friends. I booked a show for Tribe 8 in the mid-90's when I was living in Lexington, KY. They were good folks. I aslo booked: the Queers, Pink Lincolns, 15, Tilt, Avail, (Young) Pioneers, The Smears, Eye Hate God, J Church and plenty more ThatIcan't think of right now.
  14. Great thread idea. Here's one from around early '95, all punk, all the time: Side 1: teengenerate - bad boy the gits - 2nd skin blatz - tinight we're gonna fuck shit up buzzov.en - frayed propaghandhi - and we thought nation states were a bad idea not my son - 12 antioch arrow - go go grinch - clay devils new bomb turks - whose afraid of virginia woolf? cavity - no can do avail - clone christ on a crutch - what you don't give me I'll have to steal spitboy - righ
  15. That's right it'll be a late birthday present for two of us. I just got four, for myself and three very lucky people to be determined. Now if I can only find out where I left that damn time machine.
  16. Wow, I just turned on the computer for the first time in hours to find this tragic news. What a major blow. It always has been amazing that all of the E Street Band lived and thrived for so long. I always thought it would be Clarence first. I'll be listening to the early albums tomorrow for sure.
  17. ThaT article made me think of two "newer" metal bands that I like very much. St. Vitus from the 80's and EYEHATEGOd from the 90's/ early 2000's. Buzzoven from around these parts were pretty great as well.
  18. Three configurations of "Nostradamus" will be issued. The most common will be a regular jewel-cased double CD, but there will also be a "CD deluxe hardbound version," which features a 48-page booklet, while a "super deluxe version" will include three vinyl records (in addition to the CD deluxe packaging, plus a poster). This seems like overkill, for a band 25 years past their prime.
  19. Not a big surprise. Much more surprising is how deep the band keeps digging into the archives on the current tour. I'm holding out hope for the E Street Shuffle in Charlottesville in a couple of weeks.
  20. Expect a three hour show according to the Louisville daily from earlier this week: My Morning Jacket, Louisville's most internationally adored band in recent memory, will today announce its first local performance in nearly two years. "An Evening With My Morning Jacket," a co-production of Production Simple and the Louisville Bats, will be Aug. 16 on the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the Louisville Slugger Field box office, TicketMaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com and by phone, (502) 361-3100. They'll be $33.50, which includes a $1 d
  21. Just in case anyone is worried about size and numbers they'll let in, the great lawn is a pretty enormous area. I'm sure it's gotta be in the thousands many times over. I don't see it selling out quickly at all.
  22. I've seem Motorhead twice, once in the early 90's and again in the late 90's and I'm not exxagerating when I say that there were as many punks as metal heads at both shows. They have tremendous crossover appeal. Punks also really love Iron Maiden and Mercyful Fate. Another real tricky area is what is referred to as crossover. Those shows in the late 80's early 90's often violently pitted punks against hoods. Bands like the Cro Mags and DRI come to mind.
  23. I, like A-MAN, have a tough time trying to pin down what I call metal versus rock n' roll, versus glam rock or whatever. All of that being said if ACDC is metal, then they are #1 for me by miles and miles, up to '79 anyway. Sabbath is right there up until about "Sabotage." If the first VAN Halen is metal, then go ahead and put that right at the top along with the first 4 Maiden, pre-1980 Judas Priest, Motorhead to me was always just a fierce and dirty rock band, but throw them in there as well. As for the past 20 years, I like the first two Helmet albums quite a lot.
  24. I think I'm in on this one as well. I can give an exhaustive tour of the city. Can't Wait, Greg
  25. An evening with in Louisville at waterfront Park on August 16th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
