Music documentaries: recommend something!
a.miller replied to Turnips's topic in Someone Else's Song
Look up the "Classic Albums" series. They are documentaries on the making of many famous albums, featuring the artists, producers, engineers, etc. The Dark Side of the Moon episode is incredible. -
Great! Thanks for taking time to listen! Let me know what you think!

Hello VCers, As a (fairly) longtime member of this board, I would like to announce my band's release of our first EP. The Electric Project - Daydream EP I hope some of you guys take a chance to listen! Our website is under construction, but check us out there too! Enjoy!

Heard my song on the radio last night...

Dude. That's pretty sweet. For me, as a songwriter, I long for that moment. Congratulations! -
Go with JJ tubes. Purchase a matched pair of power tubes (as well as whatever other tubes you may need). Makes sure something hasn't gotten stuck to the speaker magnet and is now rubbing the woofer itself. I have seen wire ties do this multiple times.

Fulltone OCD. Best one I have ever had.

Check out the MXR Dyna-comp. Pretty good pedal.
-
Check the fuse. Funny what problems a $.10 piece can cause.

Be sure to heavily weigh how air-tight the room is. Great absorption on the walls will be lost on a poorly insulated door.

Now that I've let this movie digest, I can't wait to see it again. The scene in the bar is just amazing.

This is a pretty cool idea. Not only every question you might have, but every question that is presented -- like (big ones for me)Why have so many Losties "bumped into" each other throughout life? The Numbers?

Just saw it. Really liked it. Sure was damn violent! "The Bear Jew" scene was tough to watch.

GE = Golden Era. GREAT guitars. Lots of pros will swear by these. Make SURE to keep it humidified.

Just a word of caution -- I work with guitars and amps for a living -- you can BURN OUT your amp by fritzing around with the voltage. Be sure to do a lot of research. Additionally, you can "calm" a Fender amp down by substituting different preamp tubes to change the amp's breakup. There are many varieties of tubes that can be used instead of a stock 12ax7. Perhaps a safer thing to try firts. My $.02.

Any place this video can be seen still? Everything I look at says it has been removed. EDIT: Found it. Pretty cool.

Did I make a mistake selling this for so little
a.miller replied to PopTodd's topic in Solid State Technology
I've heard that the pickups can be valuable, based on their ability to achieve a unique sound. However, I don't think the guitars are worth much due to their inconsistent playability. -
This is a really catchy record. Period. I'm impressed by all the aspects of it. Sure, the production isn't perfect, but that's a strong point in my eyes. I'd be certain to get plenty of extra copies pressed and send it to EVERYONE. Great album. Classic, but fresh.

Call me crazy, but I really enjoy the lack of "regular" guitars this band uses. I can count on one hand the number of Strats and Les Pauls I have seen used. Very cool. So....Wilco.

Be careful too, as you can fry a tube amp by not having a speaker hooked to it of the correct impedance.

Bits and pieces, pleasures and disappointments

Should have opened with One Wing. I like the whole album, but The Song is kinda dopey IMO. -
so i'm watching sunken treasure today...

Suggestions for a new acoustic

Bingo. Bango. Boingo. Perfect for ya. -
My bet would be on these. Pretty big on the LA music scene right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but haven't we been hearing about the "incident at the Swan" since back in Season 2 (?? or 3) when Locke has that door inside the hatch come down on his leg? This was the episode where we got to see the map of all the other "stations" or "hatches". Seems to me that there was a fair mention of the incident around that time in the series. I keep having a hard time with the fact that events have or have not "happened" or if they are happening for the first time.
