do you have a go-to song or riff that you play?

G - C - D, then some little blues riff. -
I have Gibson '57 classics in two guitars: one, in a Telecaster neck position and two, in a Gibson 335. They are great pickups, but damn if they aren't expensive.

Hmm....so....if someone could help me listen to this....know what I mean? I know there's a stream....but would like it on my ipod

Cool. Saw that like 15 minutes after my post.

Are regular stores selling this today, or waiting until the 18th?

Totally gonna hit both the Wiltern show. No word on when tickets go on sale....anyone?

Just MO: CDs are certainly dying / soon to be dead. the Good: MP3s provide a very portable way to transfer music (itunes / ipod). This ability of transfer allows many musicians and bands to distribute their music to a broad audience with very low cost. Distribution channels are now open to the small guy that were never there before. As an independent / semi-professional musician, I find this to be phenomenal. MP3s are easily shared. Anyone who has been in a cover band and learned a song knows the merit of emailing a mp3 to all the band mates. No longer is the consumer forced to purchas

Very good explanation. I agree. Anyone think the lady in the grocery store, who took Aaron, was a mid-fifties Claire?

Really disturbing Police, citizen confrontation

This story would never have gotten out if Moats wasn't famous. It would have been just another unfair situation and nothing would have been done about it. -
I know we've set some "rules" for time travel, but I still have to believe that if someone dies (young ben), they simply won't be alive in the future. Like the fading photographs in Back to the Future.... On another note, I'm definitely waiting for the moment where Jack shows his doctor skills.

People take things too seriously -- toes get stepped on too easily, when rarely justified. IMO.

I've really been wanting to put a wound g on an electric...think I might do it...

Do you have another pair of speakers you could try? Maybe go out and get some of the cheapest ones you can find, for like $10, and hook those up. If the popping is there still, then the problem resides in the sound card. If not -- it's likely the speakers. I'll be you just have a short in the volume control.

I always use Elixir Lights on it. It's an all mahogany guitar, so I figured the brighter the better.

Bingo. A cheap and fun way to really different sounds out of a guitar.

You will (likely) need two power amps. One of the amps will drive the mains, the other will drive the monitors. I highly suggest looking at the used market. I have had good experiences with Crown and QSC. You can get far-better quality gear for your money when going used -- especially since it's live sound -- who cares if the PA has a scratch, right? How is the wattage split? 200w per speaker? Do the mains need more power than the monitors? Here's how I envision your setup: Microphones, etc. -->Mixer --> Power Amp --> Main Speakers then, take your Monitor Sends / Aux Outs fr

I use D'Addario Phosphor Bronze Light on a Gibson J-45 and really get that "Tweedy" sound. However, I have a Martin that sounds much better with Bright Bronze strings. If you feel that the high notes on your guitar aren't quite there, you might try a brighter string.

Why do you come to VC regularly? Good advice on many, many things. What do you get out of coming here? I find a welcoming community that has wonderful taste for many cool things that I may or may not already know of / about. How did you get into VC? I can't remember. I'm sure it was Wilco-related -- likely a google search of some kind. Do you consider yourself a Wilco fan, even if you hate AM/SBS/BT/MA/MA2/whichever album blew chunks? At the top of the list, I would never be here without Wilco. They are a great band, and even if I don't like what they do (from here forward), they have

I can almost be sure that this, or something, similar will happen......

I picked this record up last week and it is pretty darn good.

What do you guys think. Meh for my money.

At one point recently, didn't one of the characters mention a war coming?

So, Badfinger is pretty good. I never listened to them before and never knew they had quite the tragedy-laden career. Anyway, I think they're pretty cool.

Pretty cool. I always play the "what if" game with the Beatles...
