  1. Nothing really new in it - but below is new interview with Hunter ---- hopefully Hunter and Barlow make some type of an appearance at Soldier field. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/robert-hunter-on-grateful-deads-early-days-wild-tours-sacred-songs-20150309?page=5
  2. Yeah -- sour grapes - I'd say. Plus I can't fault Bears' season ticket holders for selling off their tickets for what ever they can get -- they are ones who have to suffer watching the Bears play during the season - they should be able recoup their costs. Plus who want's to listen to a Jerry sound-a-like. Trey is an interesting choice -- look forward to see what he can do with the tunes. That 'No Simple Highway' book dispels that whole notion that the Dead wanted to give away their music for free, etc....Lot's of quotes by Garcia and the rest of the band to back it up. I agree about the
  3. Listening to Jim Lauderdale's 'Carolina Moonrise" this evening - Hunter co-wrote the songs --- all the Lauderdale/Hunter releases are well worth a listen. Actually any of Lauderdale's stuff is worth listening to.
  4. I use to have dubbed tape of their first release -- haven't listened to in since the 80s (lost it). Unbelievably my library system has the 1st one and The Human Factor in its system -- put a request in to have them brought into my local library. Besides local heavy metal bands - I never saw a 'real' heavy metal show.
  5. I would have at least kept watching it for the cute actress... LouieB - I did get Nilsson's 'A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night' from the library - good stuff. Also watched the "Who is Harry" doc on Netflix last week, didn't know anything about him before, very interesting dude --- great documentary, too.
  6. Isn't there other examples of this (melodies played during tunes/jams prior to official tunes procured) --- I am drawing a blank, though. Need to listen to 01 December 1971 Boston, again -- i didn't catch any of the WR when I listened to it last night...
  7. Still need catch Maiden at least one time --- I now live 15 minutes away from the shed they typically play at -- haven't been to a show there since the 90's, though. Their DVD archival releases have been pretty good - the last one I got was Maiden England, 88 -- it's good - the documentary on disc 2 is pretty decent - the departure of Adrian Smith is discussed. Also people upload a lot of their recent Pro-Shot shows on Dime often, which are typically fun to watch. Gers is quite the ham.
  8. Read that Bruce Dickinson has finished up his cancer treatments. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/iron-maidens-plans-will-be-determined-by-bruce-dickinsons-progress-in-cancer-battle-says-manager/
  9. Each of my tickets end up being $129.00 each --- my ticket is in Section 242 --- it's seat 15 --- so it should be right by Section 241 (according how the seat numbers go). So, I am hoping the view won't be too obstructed, because 241 isn't listed as being not obstructed at all. My friends who got mail order tickets are still waiting for their seat assignments, which I am guessing nobody who is getting their tickets via mail order knows their locations, yet---guessing when that happens, even more tickets will flood the markets. Of course that should mean that prices will drop - will see.
  10. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/watch-bob-dylan-navigate-a-bloody-love-triangle-in-new-video-20150302 Video for "The Night We Called It a Day". Good tune, nice video.
  11. Looking through the new book section at my library and saw the below -- about 100 pages or so in --- well written and interesting - lot's of background San Francisco history.
  12. Yeah - that's why I am happy for my friend -- her and her brother were the ones that got me into the Dead and supplied me with tapes in the late 80s and 90s.
  13. One of my friends got her mail order ticket confirmation email yesterday for the July Shows.
  14. Me too ---- I don't have cable, so I am thinking about subscribing to MLB.tv, so I can watch it through my Roku---but it looks like local teams are still blacked-out in their areas - which sucks.
  15. That's good --- I thought they did stop streaming official stuff --- Not being able to stream the Europe 72 shows seem criminal. And who knows about the Soldier Field shows --- I am guessing GD mail order had maybe 10% of the tickets - if that.
  16. Didn't the Archive pull officially released Dead soundboards - where you couldn't even stream it - or am I misremembering that. Anyway listening to 2/26/73 - which was Dick's Pick #28 - never listened to this show before. https://archive.org/details/gd73-02-26.sbd.kaplan.1208.sbeok.shnf
  17. I am sure the size of venues has a lot to do with it. I saw him at a small, nice theater in Chicago during his last tour-- just bought the cheapest ticket and I think it was around $60 or so. Good seat, though - dead center in an upper balcony seat at the somewhat small Cadillac Palace. Starting in 97, I use to see him every time he passed through Chicago and traveled to IN, WI and MI to see him throughout the early to mid 2000's - now I see him about every 2 or 3 tours - it depends on the venue his playing. Since about 2006 or so, I always say it's the last time. I didn't catch any of
  18. I did for about the last hour this past Sunday - enjoyed the (what I think was) Funkadelic tune - (long guitar solo intro).
  19. In concert, I bet he doesn't sing more than two off his latest record ---- but then again anything is possible. I am guessing Stay with Me, since he has been playing it, and That Lucky Old Sun - a song he used to perform in concert from time to time.
  20. Finally got around to watch this --- it was good one, very well done - the music and interviews meshed very well. Never realized that Lisa Fischer won a Grammy before. Darlene Love sure got the shaft by Spector - what a dick.
  21. I just can't imagine them not streaming the show and charging for it - of course the City of Chicago Park District, who owns Soldier Field may not allow it or charge too much for the privilege, thus making it not feasible from a financial point.
  22. Having kids might be the reason why I would want to catch one of the shows in a theater...Of course they are 3 and 5 --- I guess if you have kids and they want to see it too, it could get pricey.
  23. I was at my local neighborhood pub and talked to someone who believes that Bigfoot like creature lives in the southern Cook county forest preserves.
  24. I remember those Big Foot episodes, too - fun stuff. A local free channel still runs both the 6 Mil. Man and Bionic Woman on some week night.
