  1. I am not Instagram, so I never see these shows ( thank you kindly to U2roolz for these recaps, ) -- anyway's I would have been in your same White Sox boat. Looking forward to next year.
  2. I was hoping that Romney would come out against the Court nominee -- when that didn't happen, the outcome became inevitable. Pretty crazy a few month's ago, one voted to impeach and then 'oh no - he can pick the judge' - like nothing has happen. To the teachers -- I remember it was an IL requirement to pass a Constitution test in 8th grade -- is that still a requirement in the rest of the country? I am not even sure if it is a requirement in IL, anymore.
  3. The Hideout (in Chicago) is hosting a virtual book release ---- with Nick Offerman. https://noonchorus.com/jeff-tweedy/?mc_cid=2638a853d1&mc_eid=3d31a29281
  4. Gonna get a bit chilly tonight - 39 degree is the low - wonder what their policy is on turning on ones car to warm up a bit???
  5. Got it --- W.S. Merwin is one my favorite poets --- would have been cool if there was a Tweedy/Miller connection.
  6. Was he talking about W.S. Merwin?
  7. Yeah - those sessions will be tough - i can't imagine.
  8. Ha! That exactly how I sound when play those tunes - not! Thanks for the links, they are great versions. My m.o. is to head down to my basement after my kids go to bed, have a smoke and beer or two - and attempt to play along with the music. Do enjoy the hell out of it, though.
  9. I re-checked out U2360° at the Rose Bowl from the library a couple of days ago - I know I watched it a few years ago, but that was before I purchased and listened to the No Line record a few times. Figured I would revisit the dvd. Also checked out the songbook/sheet music of Achtung Baby -- which I just got on vinyl (I never owned the CD outright - since my brother had it, I always borrowed it from him, when I wanted to listen to it.) Look forward to tooling around with my guitar while listening and perusing the book.
  10. Also a few months ago I purchased No Line on the Horizon -- a new copy of the clear vinyl on Deep Discount was super cheap - never listened to it before in its entirety. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It sounds pretty great, production wise.
  11. That Boston DVD is one of my favorite concert DVDs. I wish I would have seen them during the Elevation tour- but never saw them, until the 2017 Joshua Tree anniversary tour. Definitely glad I spent the dough to see that show - well worth it. During 80's and 90's I never had a real desire to catch them live - I do remember the wife and I talking about seeing them during the Elevation tour, though.
  12. I wonder who came up with that lick? Can't Stand It was co-written with Bennett. I hear a slight difference though (I am listening on a crappy computer speaker, though)
  13. The below are notes in the db.etree listing. http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=94254&show_users=true
  14. Since you waited this long - you should have just waited for 2029. Just put it on hold in my library system. I don't think I have ever checked it out, before. Be cool to see the Grateful Dead's performance. Finally got the below through my library system and watching now. Is there a better band to get you through an aftermath of a derecho and when you just learn that the start of school for your kids got pushed back a week, due to covid ---- our school had two options - hybrid and remote --- we chose all remote from the start, figuring we all would be remote in a month --- it didn't even
  15. Put me in the lucky camp, too - no damage and very little power loss. Many of friends in my village are still with out power and lost trees. It was crazy for about 15 minutes - then sunny within a hour or so.
  16. Crosby's thoughts on Garcia were much better than Nash's. https://variety.com/2020/music/news/jerry-garcia-grateful-dead-graham-nash-remembers-1234728260/
  17. E-gads -- that Eloy play was plain horrible. Still love the guy, but man, get your head in the game when playing the field.
  18. Got mine today. Really enjoyed the Feel Like a Stranger opener.
  19. So now I found another link of the above link that I posted and it lists the show as "Lou Reed performing live at the Théâtre St-Denis in Montreal, Canada on the 13th of August 1989." You didn't happen to keep a 'sonic journal' (a la Bear) and jot down the date of the Lou Reed show that you saw on on your 1st trip? It would be a bit funny if you watched it a black and white TV, all along. My TV in the 1st half of the 90's was an old black and white, which I got poked fun at for. Even had tin-foiled rabbit ears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUiDLepxgvI
  20. Nothing for me, either. I did get a shipping notice - but the notice only stated that it was processed - no shipping date given.
  21. I think you are thinking Chris Slade who played with AC/DC -- I don't think Slade ever played with Reed, though. From what read, Robert Medici played drums on the New York tour. The only picture I can find is not very good. I wonder if the below is what will be released on the DVD - Lou Reed - New York Album - live on TV 1990 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JevqIVGPR1A
  22. I got into Bukowski in my late teens/early 20's -- I reach for him every now and then and to me he still holds up - esp. his poetry. Mockingbird Wish Me Luck is still my favorite. From his later years The Last Night of the Earth Poems is up there for me. With regards to his On Writing book - it's mostly letters and like many authors, he harps on how he thinks the current writers' writing stink. It gets old, after a while. Though they are entertaining. The Drinking one includes more stories and poems, plus letters - so it is a more enjoyable read.
  23. Its been awhile since I read 'ol Hank. Finished up the writing one and now onto the drinking one.
  24. The cassette is a nice touch.
