  1. I've never played with a pick so I'm not sure if this would help but, try to play the songs you know minus a pick, make your index and thumb as if you were holding a pick but strum with the nail of your index finger. From there, try to use your ring and pinky if possible to hit the higher notes of the chord, just to get a feel for it. Then you can try maneuver them to where you want them. Also, on a related but different note, try to do what I call the "backwards finger roll" your strings. Imagine tapping your fingers, right? Pinky, ring, middle, index hit the table one after the other. Now, l
  2. Does anybody know any good books on liberation theology? I'm probably asking the wrong circle of people but, I thought I'd give it a try.
  3. Houses in Motion - Talking Heads
  4. I know, I was just writing it out. Sorry if I stole your limelight.
  5. I think Tweedy's version is capo 2 actually, but not that it matters. Relative to the capo, the chords are: D-G-A D-Em-G-A D-G-A D-G-A And that's it. I think, I don't have a guitar anywhere.
  6. Lovely! For the first time ever, the family is having Thanksgiving in New York. Thanks Mom and Dad.
  7. What's that sticker-looking thing that came with my cd? Is it in fact a sticker?
  8. I hope the goal of this trailer wasn't to draw a new fan base.
  9. Ooh, those are good. I saw him the past week in Milwaukee, looks like a lot of his songs are in D6.
  10. Roxanne - The Police For some reason, when the drums hits the double time, I get goosebumps. One of my favorite moments in Rock and Roll History. Like that G chord Dylan hits after the end of the first verse of Hurricane. Anybody?
  11. Would it blasphemy if I asked if anyone here has figured out some M. Ward songs?
  12. During the G chord, throw some hammer-ons on the second fret of the A. During the C chord, hammer on the second fret of the G. If you can't work it from there, I'd be happy to tab it out.
  13. Hey, British people, I need your help. An Irish friend of mine goes to Uni in Edinburgh and keeps talking about this duo that mix Flamenco and heavy metal, Gabriela? Gab? Something. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?
  14. Look's like his new album The Information is set to drop October 3rd in the States. Two new tracks are streaming at his website, sounds a lot more groove intensive than Guero. A new video too. Hope you all enjoy!
  15. I was furious when dylantabs was shut down because of this. If anyone else was a frequented that site, I managed to get an archive of it if you're interested. Edit: Nevermind! It's back!
  16. Is this a nice venue? I'm seeing M. Ward there in September, just trying to get a feel for it.
  17. That's beyond me. I would suggest either investing in some harp lessons to learn about 2nd position, 3rd position and whatnot, or dish out less than $20 for an E. Either one will pay off in the end. (As for me, I would buy the E.)
  18. Could be Jesus, Etc. with that chord.
  19. No one knows this song, we've just become friends with the monkey in our respective skulls.
  20. I was thinking the same thing today. I have no idea, I think there may be a tab of it somewhere around here, maybe it's pinned? Where ever it is, it didn't work for me. Sorry.
  21. Whenever I try to play bottleneck, it sucks. Even in alternate tuning. Someone suggested this thing you place at the top of the neck to raise the action a wee bit. Anybody know of this? Or should I stop blaming my failures on equipment and actually practice it?
  22. Stephen Malkmus used a distortion pedal when he was solo the other week. As much as I enjoyed it, I wouldn't recommend using it; it was mostly for novelty value. That being said, I would go with a volume pedal and reverb, you should be able to get some nice sounds of those and it shouldn't be too overboard.
  23. Sill looking? I'll get this up soon, but I thought gumbo pages was pretty accurate. Oh well, give me about a week.
