  1. So yeah when a saw this thread I missed the a in the title and thought well you know... Anyway Mende thanks so much for all the great shows you've hooked me up with in the last year and being so generous with your mp3 stash on the Just a Fan thread. I hope you have an excellent birthday --Mike
  2. I'm kind of picking up a Brighten The Corners vibe from it, it doesn't really sound like Pavement at all, but it the production is a lot more detailed then the first two but it's not a bad thing. Sleeping Lessons sort of has a Coldplay/Doves feel when it picks up. I haven't gottten more then halfway through it yet, but man it's great to hear new stuff from these guys. --Mike
  3. Excellent pictures thanks a lot for sharing. --Mike
  4. I am currently downloading it as I type, if this comes anywhere near the first two I'll be happy. --Mike
  5. It will be archived and up on the npr site for a week probably, that's what they did last time. It will also probably be up on Wilcoworld as well, as they were planning to webcast it pre-NPR anyway. And also to mynameisdan I guarantee you someone will record the webcast and there will likely be aud sources circulating as well. See you all tonight hopefully, --Mike
  6. That's how I'll be listening, I just hope my computer can take it, it's been acting up lately. After missing the Morgantown show, I am really happy about this. --Mike
  7. Tragically Wheeling and even Charleston West Virginia fall into the "no awesome indie store" category, thank God for insound. --Mike
  8. Wow, sounds like a nightmare gig. Where you all at least treated to an intense Misunderstood a la the Consistution Hall show in 2003? --Mike
  9. Sounds great, is there a link to this on the Matador site yet? I haven't been able to find it, and I want to figure out where I can pre-order this from to get this. --Mike
  10. It's a Mach piece half Mozart half Bach. --Mike
  11. 1. Grandaddy (They broke up this year, but I think they still count) 2. Yo La Tengo 3. Sufjan Stevens 4. Sparklehorse 5. Califone 6. Midlake 7. Belle and Sebastain 8. The New Pornographers (and Neko, Destroyer, AC Newman, etc.) 9. Grizzly Bear 10. Joanna Newsombe And so many more... --Mike
  12. Wow what a terrifying expierence. I am so glad you came out of it all right. Take care of yourself. --Mike
  13. Yeah and if you want to keep people from clicking on the ignore button, I'd recommend maybe switching it up. We get it, you don't like piano dude and that's fine but you've made your point quite clear and there's no point being a broken record about it. --Mike
  14. I'd like to see them countinue along the lines of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and The Wilco Book, kind of like a Sparklehorse/Califone/Tom Waits kind of thing. Let Glenn rock the hammer dulcimer and let Stirratt bust out the mandolin again. It would mix both the past and future of the band pretty well in my humble opinion. And I'd bring Leroy Bach back, and let Bennett produce them and serve in a Brian Wilson kind of role. --Mike
  15. Muzzle of Bees, though ask me again in five minutes and it might be something different. --Mike
  16. Wilcoworld was going to webcast this anyway, but NPR certainly provides the Wilcos some more exposure so I'm all for it. --Mike
  17. Oh I see. I thought it was being thrown on to the stage, but it makes sense now seeing as Tweedy's hands are in a throwing motion. The flask didn't hit anyone did it? --Mike
  18. Enjoy your retirement and thanks for all the great work you put in putting this place together. --Mike
  19. What is that coming on stage it looks like a plastic bag? Looking forward to hearing a little more about this one, nice to see Passenger Side and Company in My Back being rotated back in. --Mike
  20. Great read thanks. I was thrilled to see Randy Newman on Colbert last night . And when he played "Political Science" I managed to make a total fool out myself by singing along. As far as the Daily Show is concerned Samantha Bee has taken me awhile to warm up too, but she has had her moments over the past year or so. I love John Hodgeman's contributions to it, they are always top notch. While losing Colbert, Cordry, Carrell, and Ed Harris certainly hasn't helped they've brought in some solid replacements. John Oliver is great, and Rob Riggle (also known as Clell Tickle's henchmen Hambone, the
  21. Hi Pete, welcome to the boards. --Mike
  22. I think there's a little overreaction on both ends. These songs are still works in progress and the studio process has enhanced the majority of Wilco material that has been road tested over the years. Yet it is still people's rights to criticize the new songs, and maybe talking about the new album is a bit of strech but the songs that are being played now are likely going to provide a good chunk of it. I am actually a fan of the majority of the new stuff, Let's Not Get Carried Away kicks ass live, but listening to that recording it is a bit bombastic and for some that really loved YHF and A
  23. I'm torn when I saw this live I thought it was great, sort of like a We've Been Had style rocker. On the first listen of the mp3, I thought it sounded like Jet on steroids. So I don't know I am going to have to sit with this one for awhile. --Mike
