Right, but usually it's a gradual climb - up to .500, a couple 1st-division finishes, a couple playoff appearances. These guys go from steaming s--- to solid gold.

What's wid these Fla. teams. Marlins: first two seasons over .500=2 World Titles. Rays: first year over .500 (best previous was 21-game under)=1 win from World Series.

Ed Snider has always been a complete reactionary. is kinda brutal, seeing that her kids were with her. Plus, the Flyers lose. Sarah's no Kate Smith. -

The point is they're demanding Obama admit stuff he's long admitted. That's kinda sad. -

The Bush-Obama campaign similarities were brought up during the primaries. Both were disciplined, calm, steady. Don't forget, the one thing Bush could do right was get elected (twice!!!). -

AIG cancels conference at resort amid inquiry over expenses Bloomberg NewsPublished: October 9, 2008 NEW YORK: American International Group scrapped a seaside conference at a California resort amid a barrage of criticism for spending $440,000 on a similar event days after getting an $85 billion U.S. government bailout. AIG canceled the conference at the Ritz-Carlton in California's Half Moon Bay "after a re-evaluation of the costs under the new circumstances," said a spokesman, Joe Norton. The Senate Finance Committee chairman, Max Baucus, on Thursday demanded more details from th

Of course, days after it's first bailout, AIG execs treated themselves to a $440,000 weekend at an exclusive spa. Wonder what's up for this weekend.

Didn't the Phils and Brewers play again on Sunday? I must have missed the reports. Either that or it was rained out.

Cubs lose, big shock. Whenever things get tough for them - bartman, garvey, etc. - they have always folded. Only original 16 team that's never come from a game down to win a series. Kinda figured after 7 straight losses to Philly the Brewers were due. Phils were awful in the clutch - if they don't win series, they'll be thinking about that ninth inning a loooong time.

Chip Caray: "And this big crowd in Anaheim wants the Angels to win and even this series in the worst way!" Ya think?
