  1. Seems like he got the Riv flu like the rest of us And Ms Y, I showed those pics from the Riv to a friend of mine who asked which song that was, and I said all of them
  2. I saw a Smart car for the first time today. It's not as small as it seems, but it is still small. Also, Louie, sorry to hear about your car. Was this in front of your house?
  3. Oooh I see I made an error -- a .75K swim is more like 32 laps, but still....
  4. .75K Swim, 20K Bike, 5K Run i could pretty easily do the bike and run/walk, but .75 miles swimming is like 54 laps in a 25 yard pool. Maybe if I had 4 days I could do that. Otherwise, it sounds like all kinds of fun
  5. That was hi-larious. Similar to something I saw on OiNK (RIP). To answer the original poster's Q, I understand from one of the various threads just about this show that it will be recorded. No information on the quality, as the show hasn't happened yet.
  6. to all sufferers! I also found the comments in the blog interesting, as more than a few came from people who had no awareness of Wilco at all, but could strongly relate the problems that he faces and how he has gotten better. Also, when I read the article, I hear it like Jeff is saying it out loud, so in my mind it is clearly transcripted conversations lightly edited.
  7. Have I told you lately how much I love you?
  8. When my father in law (who was a WWII vet) passed away in late December, it brought the idea of veterans dying to my son. He wanted to know how many vets were around from WWII and I told him that while there were still pretty many around, they are leaving us pretty fast. He then asked about WWI, and I did the math and said that I doubted that there were any. Then this post comes along, and I called him over and we looked at the man's picture together and we thanked him for his service. It was a really nice moment. Thanks for posting.
  9. It's possible. I went to Jamaica in the late 70s and smoked some of the local weed and got waaaay higher than I wanted to. I did not smoke again for many years.
  10. I too went down the no drugs path for my depression and resulting panic attacks that I suffered in the mid 90s. I chose therapy -- and it was occasionally very intense -- to get to the root problem. I was so afraid that self-medication would just hide the problem and that I might kill myself before I could get better. Thankfully, it basically worked. I have PAs very rarely now, and depressive feelings are mostly a memory. I described living with the panic attacks as having an elephant under the rug. My husband became so in tune with them that even when I tried to hide them he could hear my f
  11. They are really cool -- we loved ours. We traded it in because we wanted another four door. Scott used it to take Jake to school and it was a little problematic for him in the back as he got older. You can fit two adults really well, but three or four, not so much. I think the Clubman (a larger Mini) might have more legroom. Also, we had two things break twice (passenger auto window and driver's seat adjuster) so we figured time to let it go. It was a 2003 S with 77K miles. We just got it in August. No issues at all. Ours is the redesigned 2008, so they may have addressed the problem th
  12. Welcome to the board. There is at least one other VC person in your town!
  13. We love it -- Scott was sold on it before he ever drove it. We traded in the Mini for it. Ours is 5 speed and 4 cylinder, so if you are willing to deal with shifting you are going to get better acceleration, though you can drive the automatic like a stick if you want, its just clutchless. I find that weird though, so I drive an automatic like an automatic. It has a decent turning ratio though. When you guys are out here in April, Scott can take you for a drive if you want (assuming you haven't already bought one). I like the fact that it is built on the Camry platform so it handles more l
  14. We also love our cars -- we have a 2004 Honda Accord EX (4 cyl 5 speed -- drives like a dream) and a 2008 Scion xB which has the hatchback feature. It's like a very small SUV but fits 5 comfortably and has a lot of hauling room whn you put the seat down, like a station wagon. Also let me know if you are going used.... I can help you with vehicle history and maybe other stuff
  15. I loved this article. Thanks Jeff for being courageous enough to talk about stuff that is often kept inside.
  16. Edie

    SNL!

You can change it you know
  17. Total drag about the Total Pros! I think they add a lot of dimension to certain songs and are not at all corny or schmaltzy, which horns can easily be. C'mon, let's all agree to pay more per ticket and get them on tour more often!
  18. Ummmm.... Actually, I used to be ehirtens, which is my first initial and the first 7 letters of my last name, and not incidently was my first email address (with the domanin of course). Finally I just changed it to Edie.
  19. NO! You get to come right on inside -- unless you want to of course And I will wax only if EL FAMOUS promises to be there.
