  1. I hope it's badass. I bought the new non-album single on iTunes and was disappointed by its lack of badassery. He's done pretty just fine, now freak the fuck out again!
  2. Gary Higgins Maitreya Kali/Satya Sai (aka Craig Smith)
  3. Chicago Date!! SCHUBAS! YAY!! * Fruit Bats * Disappears * Saturday 03/28/2009 10:30 PM * | * 21+ * | * $12.00 Disappears is a local band I love too, I'm stoked!
  4. I saw them open for Wilco at the Walker Gallery a few years ago (I think LeRoy was still around so that was a few years indeed). Interesting, I like what they're doing, but I don't love em.
  5. January 30? That's some notice. I'll see if we can gather a little group!
  6. Probably shouldn't expect a residency in a year with a new studio album coming out.
  7. http://www.contraphonic.com/con/home.php scroll down a bit.
  8. Finally heard it (waited for the vinyl) and I'm really really digging it. One my faves of the year!
  9. I'm hoping to do some sort of release party at the Hideout! (A little scared about that fitting in on AAA remark though.)
  10. Am I the only person scared at the prospect of this album being "remastered"? I think the production of early R.E.M. is almost a member of the band. I am a HUGE fan of the early years and can't bring myself to buy this.
  11. Change "Fleet Foxes" to "Cheap Time, King Khan and Jay Reatard" and I absolutely agree.
  12. I love calexico but I have seen them a whole bunch. Terry Reid may never happen again and there's the added bonus of piss piss piss whatever.
  13. Sounds like a far out night. I hope to make it. "TERRY REID should need no introduction, but this incredible talent should've been THE hugely successful powerhouse UK singer/guitarist of the 60s/70s, as he certainly blew away JOE COCKER, PAUL RODGERS or even ol' ROBERT PLANT - who TERRY recommended for the singer-spot in LED ZEPPELIN, when he TURNED IT DOWN! He also turned down DEEP PURPLE for the vocal slot! Wow - the mind boggles! His LPs are full of classic tracks covered by all from DONOVAN to CHEAP TRICK, and he toured in the day with the STONES (yes, the 'Altamont tour' - yikes), C
  14. That was my choice! I'll go with Underwhelmed - Sloan - Smeared
  15. Hey Everybody! Fruit Bats will be touring on the West Coast of the USA this winter! This is the first run after a long hiatus. 16. I love this thread! I am excited for these CDs, but how about vinyl reissues? My mono Sgt. Pepper is pretty beat.
  17. Doesn't Beck have a crew member or something named Jeff Tweedy?
  18. Lou summed it up well. I had an awesome time running the merch, and must give extra special thanks to the volunteers: Paul, Alison, Jeremy and especially Lou for staying sober Sunday nite. The Hideout was one of the first clubs I ended up in when I moved to Chicago, and for some reason Tim and Katie have always treated me so well. It's my other home.
  19. On first listen, I'm not too excited. I loved Feast of Wire, and I loved Garden Ruin which was a slight departure into a more radio friendliness. Dust seems a little too worst of both worlds to me, but we'll see if I change my mind. It's mellow. I do love the free air freshener though.
  20. Thanks everyone! I had a great lunch at Hot Dougs with a group of friends and a few hours later some of us did tear stuff up at Hidden Cove Karaoke. Sadly Sooz, Lou, Kris and Jeffwalrus did not sing me a song... maybe next year!
  21. I don't think I would know if I have heard every song off every album. I can only recall the whole album in its entirety thing: Bonnie "Prince" Billy: I See A Darkness Ted Leo: Shake the Sheets Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation GZA: Liquid Swords Slint: Spiderland
  22. Happy Birthday my other favorite Virgo! See you soon, I hope.
