  1. Jeff's version is much poppier. The original is very cool though.
  2. I was just saying earlier today, "I can't believe we have to wait five more months for the new record." I could have much bigger problems though. I hope it is as good as I expect it to be.
  3. Thanks. I reckon they do have the material. Also, I just changed the Summerteeth Demos from FLAC to shn AND mp3 files. The shns sounded scratchy and poor, the mp3s sounded much clearer. I thought that shns were the highest quality. Apparently not.
  4. That's right...I remember learning that from looking at the the lyrics on bemydemon.org. I should have looked before I posted, oh well. Anyone heard the Buffalo Springfield version?
  5. When converting FLAC files, which output format do you most suggest? I've got a bunch of options: .wav, .mp3, .au, .aiff, .gsm, .vox, .raw, .ogg, .aac. Is wav better than mp3?
  6. Here's another one for you: What do you know about "Burned"? I love that track and I downloaded a copy (from somewhere?) a while back. They've never performed it live which is odd. It's part of the YHF recordings if I'm not mistaken....any other details?
  7. This just occurred to me.....Analogman, you might have the answer. There is no alternate version (in either of the demo collections) to the wonderful "Jesus, etc." What's up with that? There's also no "Radio Cure" on either one. Anyone know of another version of "Jesus?"
  8. Does anyone have any extras to either of these sold out shows?
  9. Thanks, Greg. Good advice all around. Nice journalistic style too.
  10. Thanks Boots...that's pretty much the conclusion I came to. I love this disc though. "Not For the Season (Laminated Cat)," "A Magazine Called Sunset" and "Alone" are great tracks. In a way I'm glad they're not on YHF, even though they deserve to be over a couple songs, maybe "Pot Kettle Black" and "Radio Cure" although I'm beginning to like those tracks (4 years later).
  11. I have almost all things Wilco and I just discovered this. I figured the "engineer's demos" were the same as the regular YHF demos. I stand corrected. Someone asked earlier, "who is this engineer?" Was it Jay Bennett or the other dude? I'm not sure this was answered. Can someone please explain the difference betweeen the two YHF demos? Thanks.
  12. MMJ is an awesome band. If there was one (of their four) studio album you would recommend to try and turn people on to them, which one would it be?
  13. I've now listened to this album several times. It is just awful! I really tried to give it a chance too.
  14. Is this thread for real? The puppy dog barked at the pussycat How does it look from where you sat? Looks like a cyclone slidin' in Joe DiMaggio's done it again
  15. I'm very excited about the new album. Yaaahhh. Only 6 months to go.
  16. It worked for me, yaaaaah. It will be quicker soon when they put all the tracks into one larger file.
  17. I think that people on VC, including myself, have WAY too much free time.
  18. gogo, I'm assuming you were at Jeff's solo show in Frisco.
  19. I am also having bad luck with this. My tracks attempt to open and then say "cannot find server" and/or "page cannot be displayed," after several minutes of waiting. I have faith that the files will open someday soon.
  20. So true. I always thought of Jimmy Page as the sloppy, drunken guitar hero. His riffs are so pure. I love that bluesy rock n' roll. Nels does seem almost "too good." I do hope he sticks around for a while so I can see a sweet lead guitarist every time I go see my favorite band play live. He sure sounds sweet on that old axe.
  21. Box Full of (Freakin') Letters? This might be the best setlist I've ever seen.
  22. Awesome! When I got into Wilco, back in August '02, I was hugely into Radiohead. YHF was in my car's cd player for like four months. Good stuff. Also, Jeff played "Box" last night. I find that a bit ironic.
  23. Why is "Box Full of Letters" sometimes billed as Wilco and Radiohead?? I cannot think of a reason for this. That's what comes up if you search last.fm for Wilco. I've seen it in other places too. Anyone have answers to this?
