  1. Agreed. The guitar sound (at least in Jeff's solo versions) has similarities to "Please Tell my Brother." What a nice, mellow song. I dig it.
  2. ST is a wonderful record and is definitely one of my favorites. That being said, I have been listening to YHF a lot lately and think it is a total masterpiece. ST has a few weaknesses e.g. arrangement, a few "lame" songs that I don't care for. I think YHF flows incredibly well from beginning (IATTBYH) to end (Reservations) and is mixed with tremendous detail. It is, however, very cool to hear different peoples' opinions about everything Wilco.
  3. I have heard "California Stars," "Handshake Drugs" and other random Wilco songs several times, mostly on college stations. I have heard a few other tunes at stores. Who is the woman in the "A Shot in the Arm" video? I wonder if she's a paid actress or what. That newbie does deserve a good bashing. Welcome.
  4. Cheapest shipping yes. They did ship mine but I didn't recieve it yesterday (Tuesday). Perhaps it will come today. I sure hope so.
  5. I have noticed that you are one knowledgeable dude. Did you already know that or did you google it? It seems like rather obscure information.
  6. I find that having Wilco is enough common ground to get along. The fact is, many people in life have to be "right" when in reality both people in an argument are trying to prove the same thing in two different ways. There's no right or wrong....there just is. How Zen. I do agree with lost highway though (post #1). The bottom line is that we are all entitled to our opinions. It is great to hear different sides to intelligent arguments. I just don't think we should call people stupid names and resort to immaturity. In the "big picture" it's really not worth it. So let's all get along and dig
  7. Glenn's boyish good looks clearly dictate his simple yet trancendent persussionism. His style is existensial but accessible. Plus, I hear he has excellent personal hygiene. All jokes aside, Glenn is a phenominal drummer. His solo stuff is very weird. "Monkey Chant" is particularly strange.
  8. I'm having a very hard time deciding whether I should watch tonight or wait for my trusty DVD to arrive.
  9. Agreed. Hell is a very cool opener, although maybe not as cool as Radio Cure.
  10. That Radio Cure was fantastic! I was very surprised that they opened with it. Definitely not wanting to argue but Misunderstood is not rare let alone "very rare." It's been played very frequently in '06 as well as on Jeff's solo tour (when he also played Sunken Treasure almost every night). Also, they have opened with Hell several times this year. Not being a jerk at all, I'm just curious what you mean.
  11. Ha ha ha. John has been known to enjoy an occasional cold one. When I was a drunken young man SN was my very favorite brew. Coincidence, I think not.
  12. I don't wanna hear no complaints gosh darn it! I have only seen the band (I've seen three Jeff solo shows) once since the fall of 2004. I would pay many moneys to see the Thanksgiving shows. I'm sure they'll freakin' rock! The Chicago and St. Louis setlists are always fresh. Enjoy, you lucky ducks.
  13. I wasn't able to make it to any of the fall shows . What was/were the best show/two shows? This may be a tough one since probably no one attended every show. I thought the 9:30 club show was fantastic. Solid setlist, good Nels work, the only downfall was that Jeff did not quite seem himself. But, again, this was the only one I've heard. I want to get some input before I download. Please, share your thoughts.
  14. I agree about 97%. I love how he claimed it was a "clump of dirt." What a douchebag! Did he expect us to believe that? Scott Spezio said, last night, something like "whatever it was, he got away with it, good for him." Heh Heh Heh....on the first page of this thread it says "Small-Wang." Heh Heh Heh.
  15. Good one domino. Jeff (to former bandmember Leroy): I need to be the center of this 'circle.' Leroy: We're pretty much saying the same thing, Jeff. A circle can only have one center. John: Leroy, I don't think you'll ever get an answer that makes very much sense. (To this day, he hasn't) Glenn: Sweet! In a few years I'll make a record featuring very very strange noises and then open for Jeff on his solo tour featuring some of these bazaar songs. I'll call one track, "Monkey Chant." To the Glenn mobile!
  16. That's not funny mister! I could not imagine such a tragedy. In that event we will never have another "Dogma," "Oceans" sequel or "Stuck Together" featuring Greg Kinear. Oh wait.... I mean It starts at 9 PM...duh. That makes a lot more sense. Mine shipped today too. Yaaaahhh!
  17. All I get is the trailer and "Is that the Thanks I Get?"
  18. Grateful Dead - "Brokedown Palace" and "Black Muddy River" Wilco - "At My Window Sad and Lonely"
  19. Thanks for all the great feedback folks. I have lots of new music to check out.
  20. It appears to have gotten mixed/bad reviews from folks 'round these parts.
  21. I must admit that I'm surprised to hear this from you. Your comments are usually right on with my thoughts. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and for a long time I wasn't very excited by Bobby. However, it occurred to me over the years that he really carried the Dead during the mid and late '80s when Jerry could barely play OR remember the lyrics. The band still drew huge crowds and continued to prosper. To me Bobby is clearly the number 2 man in a band that lasted for 30+ years. Tunes like "Cassidy," "Sugar Magnolia," "Jack Straw," "Saturday Night" and "Throwin' Stones" are popular amon
  22. I really dig "Down With Wilco." I think it's a great album that implements late '60s Beatles as well as "Pet Sounds" and "Smile"esque Brian Wilson harmonies and melodies. This record has really grown becoming heavy in my rotation. What do my VC peeps think?
  23. Dear administrators, Please ban this guy. Thanks.
