  1. I could come down. It's a 15 hour drive but I'm always up for hangin' with my fellow Wilcoers. Sarah, are you going to Bonnaroo? Charlotte is only a 5 hour drive, I'd rather go there. 'Roo would be fun, but with all the chaos and hippies and beer and whatnot it might get annoying really quickly.
  2. If I'm not mistaken, and I very well could be, "My Darling" appears on "Summerteeth" and was written/sang by one Jay Bennett, former member of the Chicago based alt-country band Wilco. No one here really likes him all that much. I appreciate, however, that he can have a cigarette in his mouth at all times. It's both amazing and baffling.
  3. As if we didn't already have enough to look forward to that day... What will they play? My vote is for What Light, or maybe Walken.
  4. It was a dark and stormy night.... I saw Wilco for the first time on August 6, 2004 at the State Theater in Portland, ME. I saw them 2 days later at the Newport Folk Festival, right after I saw Old Crow Medicine Show play for about 100 people. Wicked. The good old "Ghost" summer tour. I saw them twice more that fall (Burlington, VT and Radio City). I am going to see them on June 29 (and 6/24 in MA) in VT. It is my 30th birthday that day. If anyone here has any pull, I would love either: a backstage pass OR for them to sing me "Happy B'day." Now that would be super wicked.
  5. One of my pet peeves about Wilco song titles is that "The Lonely 1" is not "The Lonely One." I think the "1" is entirely lame. Wilco isn't the kind of band that has to try to be "kool" hahaha.
  6. Me too. Is it my imagination or have the live versions lately sounded much differently than they used to? The string parts seem to have given way to more synth. which is pretty disappointing. Maybe someday they'll perform it with an orchestra, that would kick ass! BTW, Dan rules!
  7. You may as well buy your VT tickets now. I'll see you at both shows. In fact, the VT show is on my 30th b'day. What a treat!
  8. This strange review compared the style of "Seeds"' guitar solos to Trey's style, not to Phish as a group. In my opinion that's quite a compliment. Yes, I am one of the few Phish allies on this board. Trey may be a douchebag but he is a sick guitarist. As far as Fricke's article goes, I like his comparison of Jeff's progression to the Dead's (from psychedelic records e.g. "Anthem of the Sun" to more complete records like "Workingman's Dead"). Fricke is a bit of a fruitcake but I think he loves Wilco. I (and I'm probably not alone) give Nels a lot of credit for the maturity and depth of SBS
  9. $100 From the scalpers.......that's just ridiculous. I guess I wasn't meant to go. I'm going to the Pines and Vemont though.....yeaaahhh!
  10. I downloaded it and tried to play it with real player.
  11. "We come from the land of the ice and snow from the blah blah blah where the blah blah blah...." It IS painful on the ears.
  12. Pines, Walken......sweet. I'll see you there my man. I'll be the dude rockin' out near the front.
  13. Wow! Quite a rant! Luckily for that guy's sake, there's still Dave Matthews, Coldplay, and maybe even Hootie and the Blowfish. I'd be curious to read a positive rant about someone that snow ships likes a lot.
  14. Probably my favorite track on SBS. But, different strokes for different folks, as "they" say. I like how after the guitar distortion ends, they go back to the mellow part that starts the song. Good stuff.
  15. I am a teenybopper and a fool, I don't wear my hat backwards, I do not like John Mayer, Ben Folds is OK, kinda. NE dates for Wilco in June......yeeeaaaaahhhh.
  16. "Working in the gold mine fulltime filling in for sunshine."
  17. Which day of the week do the billboard charts get updated? I know the album is released on a Tuesday. How long until we can get an answer to this shallow and pedantic question. I highly doubt Wilco will debut at #1. There are way too many other commercial bands out there. We should all buy 10 copies of SBS to ensure that it gets a low ranking in the charts.
  18. Pat said at the Mercury Lounge show that they had enough extra material for another album and that it could likely be done sooner rather than later. True story, not b/s about anyone's uncle or cousin or mother's, sister's husband's brother, working in the gold mine full-time filling in for sunshine. That would be pretty cool. Maybe "Is that the thanks I Get" will make a studio appearance.
  19. I was thinking that earlier, while listening, then they played "Sweet Leaf." I had the sudden urge to spark up a spliff but refrained from doing so.
  20. And it's their first album with Mr. Cline. Sweet.
  21. Good stuff. One of my favorite Wilco songs.
  22. Please refrain from perversely treating the audio.
