  1. I saw that. Now it's getting embarassing. There's gonna be an attack ad saying: "Who is Barak Obama? You may not know, but he has an Aunt living illegally in the United States. Is that who you want running your country?"
  2. Holy crap. If they're gonna toss a song like that off for a show they really must have an embarrassment of riches. I think there are gonna be some happy Wilco fans in 09.
  3. Obama on the Bradley Effect: "I don't think white voters have gotten the memo on this 'Bradley Effect'."
  4. Do you think a University would put Palin, McCain, or Biden in charge of lecturing students on the topic?
  5. I think it's weak, but I hope I don't share that info in a way that makes people on here hate me. I like talking to yall more than I dislike AM.
  6. I think the biggest relief to all of those middle of the road and conservative folks out there watching the Obama campaign poised to score a win is this: Obama has a superior and more nuanced understanding of the constitution and constitutional law than any other person that has been involved in the election, if not the primaries.
  7. The one from the 25th sounds like if Eric Burdon wrote one of the tunes for Mermaid Ave.
  8. People that believe in the Anti-Christ need to take a bible history course. I hope that fiscal conservatism can rescue itself from the tethers of relgio-stupidity. Not because I am a fiscal conservative, but because I find it to be an intellectually responsible perspective that is opposite to my own. It levels things off. If you wanna talk anti-christ and prayer in public school than the debate just got dumber, we're learning less and the country can't improve. Maybe the end of the Bush administration and the lame duck that has been the McCain campaign will be the end of an era and the r
  9. For sure. I have a regressively juvenile record collecting habit. I have never heard an album that sounds and feels quite like SBS. It is not hugely original yet its completely one of a kind.
  10. I'm glad someone mentioned them. But you'd go with that more than Crown of the Valley- Orange Rhyming Dictionary? What about Margaret Vs. Pauline- Fox Confessor
  11. Excuse me. I can only be lead to believe that we will all have acquired much more knowledge on this topic in approximately two months time. Watching the Lollapalooza footage of it helps show it's potential a lot more than listening to some of the other bootlegs. Pretty sweet. But again, we're putting a lot of pressure on one song.
  12. I predict/pray that Sara is going the way of the Pog.
  13. This comes up from time to time. A lot of the tracks from what would have been the dbPM album were put in the Wilco Book. Lots of improvisations and other unusual studio exercises. I bet Analogman has a link to a thread about this.
  14. Probably doubtful again. Last I heard Jim was still busy w/ film stuff in Japan and oh so slowly finishing off some new solo ideas. I suppose that doesn't take it completely out of the realm of possibility. I bet we'll all know a lot more about all of this in like two months.
  15. I reiterate: we know nothing. The band still might not know what it's going to sound like in the end. I just hope they're working with TJ Doherty again.
  16. I can already start to see the way the McCain campaign can be looked at through the backwards lens of history: A shocking, somewhat random choice of a female evangelist for the VP that backfired. In fighting in his campaign base. Negative tone. Erratic behavior, often changing stances on the same day. He and his campaign have put a lot of info out their for voters to judge -and you don't need to think as critically as most people on here do- to gather that he's a sinking ship. All the more reason if some mutant future happens where he wins, we're in deep doo-doo.
  17. Have you been performing? That can help. Have you bought any albums that you hadn't heard before that are knocking your socks off? That can help.
  18. I've heard McCain is mounting his own polling ethics committee. In each of his 13 houses a plumber named Joe will be stationed with a database on a supercomputer. There is: Joe Calipelli- New Hampshire Joe Blow- Western PA Joe "Lame Duck" Koffman- Indiana Joe "Double Wide" Lake- WY Joe "Six Pack" Montgomery- NV Corrections Facility The remaining eight Joes have yet to be picked. Hopefuls are still having a 'mini-primary' which includes Rotor-Rooter, and Cruller consumption. The swimsuit contest is on hold for weather issues.
  19. I should have been there. I bet right about this time I was eating a piece of toast over the sink and looking out the window. Shit!
  20. The new RS has Obama on the cover. They devoted a paragraph towards the beginning to Wilco recording a new record. There's a great quote from Nels Cline about their wealth of material. If there's any subscribers I'd love you to share it, I don't want to misquote.
  21. I find it and New Morning to be like his last few albums. Proof that a genius who fell from grace can still make good stuff. I don't get much more than that out of it. Interesting story about Joni. I think Court and Spark was where her material started going downhill, and Planet Waves is where Dylan made a bit of a comeback. Weird.
